Intraoperative radiotherapy given as a boost after breast-conserving surgery in breast cancer patients.
Roland Reitsamer,Florentia Peintinger,Felix Sedlmayer,M. Kopp,C. Menzel,W. Cimpoca,S. Glueck,H. Rahim,Peter Kopp,Heinz Deutschmann,Florian Merz,M. Brandis,H.D. Kogelnik +12 more
TL;DR: Preliminary data suggest that IORT given as a boost after breast-conserving surgery could be a reliable alternative to conventional postoperative fractionated boost radiation by accurate dose delivery and avoiding geographical misses, by enabling smaller treatment volumes and complete skin-sparing and by reducing postoperative radiation time by 7-14 days.

A strategy for the use of image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) on linear accelerators and its impact on treatment margins for prostate cancer patients.
Olaf Nairz,Florian Merz,Heinz Deutschmann,Peter Kopp,Helmut Schöller,Franz Zehentmayr,Karl Wurstbauer,Gerhard Kametriser,Felix Sedlmayer +8 more
TL;DR: Only initially performed IGRT might be helpful for eliminating gross systematic errors especially after virtual simulation, however, a substantial PTV margin reduction is only achievable by matching internal markers instead of bony anatomical structures.

Boost IORT in Breast Cancer: Body of Evidence.
Felix Sedlmayer,Roland Reitsamer,Christoph Fussl,Ingrid Ziegler,Franz Zehentmayr,Heinz Deutschmann,Peter Kopp,Gerd Fastner +7 more
TL;DR: Boost IORT marginally prolongs the surgical procedure, while significantly shortening postoperative radiotherapy, and its combination with a 3-week hypofractionated external beam radiotherapy to the whole breast is presently tested in the HIOB trial.
Intraoperative Electron Radiotherapy (IOERT) in the Treatment of Primary Breast Cancer.
Julia Kaiser,Roland Reitsamer,Peter Kopp,Christoph Gaisberger,M. Kopp,Thorsten Fischer,Franz Zehentmayr,Felix Sedlmayer,Gerd Fastner +8 more
TL;DR: IOERT has been shown to be advantageous for several reasons: Geographic misses are avoided due to direct visualization of the tumor bed; thus, a high single dose is delivered with utmost precision to small volumes, completely sparing the skin and ensuring good long-term cosmetic outcome.
"Augmented reality" in conventional simulation by projection of 3-D structures into 2-D images: a comparison with virtual methods.
Heinz Deutschmann,P. Steininger,Olaf Nairz,Peter Kopp,Florian Merz,Karl Wurstbauer,Franz Zehentmayr,Gerd Fastner,Manfred Kranzinger,Gerhard Kametriser,Michael Kopp,Felix Sedlmayer +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a new method is introduced, which allows the overlay of three-dimensional structures, that have been delineated on transverse slices, onto the fluoroscopy from conventional simulators in real time.
