A dosimetric comparison of IORT techniques in limited-stage breast cancer.
Olaf Nairz,Heinz Deutschmann,Michael Kopp,Karl Wurstbauer,Gerhard Kametriser,Gerd Fastner,Florian Merz,Roland Reitsamer,Christian Menzel,Felix Sedlmayer +9 more
TL;DR: IOERT delivers the most homogeneous dose distributions when comparing simplified geometric figures, however, in clinical reality PTVs often present asymmetric shapes instead of ideal geometries.

Concepts and techniques of intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) for breast cancer
Roland Reitsamer,Felix Sedlmayer,Michael Kopp,Gerhard Kametriser,Christian Menzel,Silvia Glueck,Olaf Nairz,Heinz Deutschmann,Florian Merz,Florentia Peintinger +9 more
TL;DR: The EBCTCG overview approves that differences in local treatment that substantially affect local recurrence rates would avoid about one breast cancer death over the next 15 years for every four local recurrences avoided, and should reduce 15-year overall mortality.

"Augmented reality" in conventional simulation by projection of 3-D structures into 2-D images: a comparison with virtual methods.
Heinz Deutschmann,P. Steininger,Olaf Nairz,Peter Kopp,Florian Merz,Karl Wurstbauer,Franz Zehentmayr,Gerd Fastner,Manfred Kranzinger,Gerhard Kametriser,Michael Kopp,Felix Sedlmayer +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a new method is introduced, which allows the overlay of three-dimensional structures, that have been delineated on transverse slices, onto the fluoroscopy from conventional simulators in real time.

Intraoperative radiotherapy for early breast cancer
TL;DR: Overall, the results of this trial are preliminary and immature since the follow-up is much too short to draw any conclusions about local recurrence rates, and the use of targeted intraoperative radiotherapy as a single shot outside a clinical trial until the long-term follow- up data for non-inferiority are available.
