Opposing roles of hepatic stellate cell subpopulations in hepatocarcinogenesis
Aveline Filliol,Yoshinobu Saito,Ajay Nair,Dianne H. Dapito,Le-Xing Yu,Aashreya Ravichandra,Sonakshi Bhattacharjee,Silvia Affò,Naoto Fujiwara,H. Irene Su,Qi-Lun Sun,Thomas Savage,John R. Wilson-Kanamori,Jorge Matias Caviglia,Likang Chin,Dongning Chen,Xiaobo Wang,Stefano Caruso,Jin-Ku Kang,Amit Dipak Amin,Sebastian Wallace,Ross Dobie,D. Yin,Oscar M Rodriguez-Fiallos,Chuan Yin,Adam Mehal,Benjamin Izar,Richard A. Friedman,Rebecca G. Wells,Utpal B. Pajvani,Yujin Hoshida,Helen Remotti,Nicholas Arpaia,Jessica Zucman-Rossi,Michael Karin,Neil C. Henderson,Ira Tabas,Robert F. Schwabe +37 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors investigated the role of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development and showed that an increased imbalance between cytokine-producing and myofibroblastic HSCs during liver disease progression was associated with increased HCC risk.

Distinct effects of different matrix proteoglycans on collagen fibrillogenesis and cell-mediated collagen reorganization
Dongning Chen,Lucas R. Smith,Gauri Khandekar,Pavan D. Patel,Christopher Yu,Kehan Zhang,Christopher S. Chen,Lin Han,Rebecca G. Wells +8 more
TL;DR: It is found that versican, a large chondroitin sulfate PG, promotes collagen fibrillogenesis in a turbidity assay and upregulates cell-mediated collagen compaction and reorganization, whereas aggrecan, a structurally-similar large PG, has different and often opposing effects on collagen.
Investigation of systemic immune-inflammation index, neutrophil/high-density lipoprotein ratio, lymphocyte/high-density lipoprotein ratio, and monocyte/high-density lipoprotein ratio as indicators of inflammation in patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder
Yanyan Wei,Ting-Yu Wang,Guoguang Li,Jun-Hui Feng,Lian-Dong Deng,Haiting Xu,Lu Yin,Jinbao Ma,Dongning Chen,Jingxu Chen +9 more
TL;DR: The role of systemic inflammation in the pathophysiology of SCZ, BD-M, and BD-D, the association between inflammation and lipid metabolism, is highlighted, and these inflammation and Lipid metabolism indicators showed different variation patterns in SCz, BD -D, andBD-M.
Mechanosensing at Cellular Interfaces.
TL;DR: Overall, these mechanoactive elements show the dynamic interplay between the cell, its matrix, and neighboring cells and how these relationships affect cellular function.

A fetal wound healing program after intrauterine bile duct injury may contribute to biliary atresia.
Iris E M de Jong,Mallory L. Hunt,Dongning Chen,Yu Du,Jessica Llewellyn,Kapish Gupta,David C. Li,Dorothea Erxleben,Felipe Rivas,Adam R. Hall,Emma E. Furth,Ali Naji,Chengyang Liu,Abhishek Dhand,Jason A. Burdick,Marcus G. Davey,Alan W. Flake,Robert J. Porte,Pierre Russo,J. William Gaynor,Rebecca G. Wells +20 more
TL;DR: The fetal/neonatal EHBD, including in human EhBD remnants from Kasai surgeries, demonstrated an injury response with prolonged high levels of HA typical of fetal wound healing, which may swell and lead to elevated bilirubin levels and obstruction of the EH BD.
