Abstract: The use of geoprocessing techniques and remote sensing have become more and more common recently due to the great improvement of the Geographical Information Systems – GIS. By using these systems, it is possible to realize numerous activities based on spatial analysis, such as map algebra. In this sense, the present work aims to use GIS to analyze the land use suitability in the city of Amparo-PB, with the aid of multicriterial analysis and map algebra. For this, we used different spatial data, such as satellite images, to make the land use map, topographic charts of Brazilian systematic
TL;DR: The paper adopts the idea of zero-initialization and proposes the method of data mining for spatial relations based on location data and consummates the descriptions of spatial relations.
Abstract: This paper discusses the basic features and the models of spatial data. Beyond current topology and distance relations, it comes up with the location, neighborhood, nearness and influence conceptions of spatial data and consummates the descriptions of spatial relations. It points out only the location data is the primitive data, other spatial relations are derived data. Based on the computability of derived data, the feature of raster data that the whole research area is been structured with regular cells and related theory and technology in map algebra, the paper adopts the idea of zero-initialization and proposes the method of data mining for spatial relations based on location data.

Abstract: MACHALOVA, J.: The interception of vagueness in occurrence of plants modeling with using map algebra. Acta univ. agric. et silvic. Mendel. Brun., 2009, LVII, No. 6, pp. 143–152 Information plays an important role in process of decision-making. Information and communication technologies give to the decision-makers not only relevant information, but they help in their interpretation. The basic advantage of fuzzy logic is the capability mathematic catch up the information, which is phrased. If we have set of elements, in that every element is characterised by grade of pertinence (member ship function), we call it fuzzy set. Map algebra is instrument that allows working up the raster representation of reality with using language of the map algebra. The using fuzzy sets for solving spatial problems is qualifi ed by process in 3 steps: a) the correct defi nition of the type of member ship function, 2) the reserve of quality of input data, and 3) to modelling defi ned fuzzy sets by expert and the implementation of spatial analysis above them. The article has the goal, exemplify of modelling of occurrence of Epipogium aphyllum in the Czech Republic, to propose the way of spatial analysis above fuzzygeoelements with using map algebra. Only 4 restrictive conditions input to model, and the size of pixel in layer is 10 m. Fuzzy sets are realised above selected raster layers, that were defi ned in the step 1) by instruments of the map algebra. The resulting model specifi es the places with documented occurrence with the high degree of member ship function. geographic information technologies, modelling, map algebra, space analysis, fuzzy sets, plant
TL;DR: The commonly accepted roles for GIS in environmental modelling are as a pre - and post - processor, preparing data files for input to the model, and displaying the model results in map form.
Abstract: The commonly accepted roles for GIS in environmental modelling are as a pre - and post - processor, preparing data files for input to the model, and displaying the model results in map form. It is suggested that it may be possible to develop GIS as a modelling tool in its own right, thus avoiding the problems associated with linking separate modelling software with GIS packages. Research shows that a broader range of modelling than previously considered possible can be carried out inside current general purpose raster GIS, albeit with practical constraints. The advantages of this approach are the power of the GIS language (Map Algebra), which can handle complex operations on raster layers with a simple syntax, and the ease with which the modeller can move between model development and testing. A key weakness of current GIS is their poor facilities for representing dynamic process representations, and to overcome this an extension of Map Algebra is suggested to encompass concepts drawn from the field of Ce...
TL;DR: The result is an efficient way of implementing map algebra that simplifies its use on environmental and dynamic models without going too far from its well-known paradigm.
Abstract: This paper describes features of a language approach for map algebra based on the use of algebraic expressions that satisfy a concise formalism. To be consistent with formal approaches such as geoalgebra and image algebra, the proposed algebraic expressions are suitable not only for the usual modeling of layers but also to describe variable neighborhoods and zones. As a compromise between language and implementation issues we present an implementation strategy based on the theory of automata. The result is an efficient way of implementing map algebra that simplifies its use on environmental and dynamic models without going too far from its well-known paradigm.
