Studies on Prodrugs of Cephalosporins. I. Synthesis and Biological Properties of Glycyloxybenzoyloxymethyl and Glycylaminobenzoyloxymethyl Esters of 7β-[2-(2-Aminothiazol-4-yl)-(Z)-2-methoxyiminoacetamido]-3-methyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylic Acid
Nobuharu Kakeya,Kenichi Nishimura,Yoshimi A,Syohei Nakamura,Susumu Nishizawa,Satoshi Tamaki,Hiroshi Matsui,Toshiyuki Kawamura,Masayasu Kasai,Kazuhiko Kitao +9 more
TL;DR: The esters were found to possess the desired factors for an orally active prodrug, that is, appropriate solubility, lipophilicity and lability, and when administered orally to mice were well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and gave high blood levels of the parent compound.

Patent
Novel heterocyclic derivatives and medicinal use thereof
Hiroshi Matsui,Kobayashi Hideo,Satoru Azukizawa,Masayasu Kasai,Akihisa Yoshimi,Hiroaki Shirahase +5 more
- 27 May 2002
TL;DR: Novel heterocyclic derivatives represented by the following general formula (I) or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof: (I’) wherein R1 represents H or C 1-6 alkyl; R2 represents -CO-C(R4)=C (R4)-R5 (wherein R4 represents H/C 1-4 alyl; and R5 represents C4-8 alkyls, C 2-8 Alkenyl, aryl or an aromatic heterocycle), etc., R3 represents O or S;

Novel indoline-based acyl-CoA:cholesterol acyltransferase inhibitor with antiperoxidative activity: improvement of physicochemical properties and biological activities by introduction of carboxylic acid.
Kenji Takahashi,Masayasu Kasai,Masaru Ohta,Yoshimichi Shoji,Kazuyoshi Kunishiro,Mamoru Kanda,Kazuyoshi Kurahashi,Hiroaki Shirahase +7 more
TL;DR: Two novel indoline derivatives with an ionizable moiety showed good oral absorption and inhibitory activity against foam cell formation in THP-1 cells exposed to acetyl-LDL after differentiation and are a promising candidate for antihyperlipidemic and antiatherosclerotic drugs.
