The oncolytic virus Delta-24-RGD elicits an antitumor effect in pediatric glioma and DIPG mouse models.
Naiara Martinez-Velez,Marc Garcia-Moure,Miguel Marigil,Marisol Gonzalez-Huarriz,Montse Puigdelloses,Jaime Gállego Pérez-Larraya,Marta Zalacain,Lucía Marrodán,Maider Varela-Guruceaga,Virginia Laspidea,José Javier Aristu,Luis Isaac Ramos,Sonia Tejada-Solís,Ricardo Díez-Valle,Chris Jones,Alan Mackay,Jose A. Martinez-Climent,María José García-Barchino,Eric H. Raabe,Michelle Monje,Oren J. Becher,Marie-Pierre Junier,Elias A. El-Habr,Hervé Chneiweiss,Guillermo Aldave,Hong Jiang,Juan Fueyo,Ana Patiño-García,Candelaria Gomez-Manzano,Marta M. Alonso +29 more
TL;DR: It is reported that the administration of Delta-24-RGD is safe in mice and results in a significant increase in survival in immunodeficient and immunocompetent models of pHGG and DIPGs, highlighting the potential of this virus as treatment for patients with these tumors.
Spinal column shortening for tethered cord syndrome associated with myelomeningocele, lumbosacral lipoma, and lipomyelomeningocele in children and young adults
Guillermo Aldave,Daniel Hansen,Steven W. Hwang,Amee Moreno,Valentina Briceño,Andrew Jea,Andrew Jea +6 more
TL;DR: Spinal column shortening seems to represent a safe and efficacious alternative to traditional untethering of the spinal cord for tethered cord syndrome.
The aberrant splicing of BAF45d links splicing regulation and transcription in glioblastoma.
Guillermo Aldave,Marisol Gonzalez-Huarriz,Angel Rubio,Juan P. Romero,Datta Ravi,Belén Miñana,Mar Cuadrado-Tejedor,Ana Garcia-Osta,Roeland Verhaak,Enric Xipell,Naiara Martinez-Velez,Arlet M. Alonso +26 more
TL;DR: The data indicate that AS is a mechanism that contributes to the malignant phenotype of glioblastoma, and it is demonstrated that BAF45d splicing is mediated by polypyrimidine tract-binding protein 1 (PTBP1) and that B AF45d regulates PTBP1, uncovering a reciprocal interplay between RNA splicing regulation and transcription.

Cerebellar Mutism Syndrome in Pediatric Neuro-oncology: A Multidisciplinary Perspective and Call for Research Priorities.
Fatema Malbari,Jason Gill,Amy Daigle,L. Leonordo Rodriguez,Kimberly P. Raghubar,Kimberly Davis,Michael Scheurer,Marika Merits Ma,Stephen F. Kralik,Avner Meoded,M. Fatih Okcu,Murali Chintagumpala,Guillermo Aldave,Howard L. Weiner,Lisa S. Kahalley +14 more
TL;DR: Cerebellar mutism syndrome (CMS) as discussed by the authors occurs in a subset of children after posterior fossa tumor resection, most commonly medulloblastoma, and patients with this syndrome exhibit often transient, although protracted, symptoms of language impairment, emotional lability, cerebellar, and brainstem dysfunction.
