Induction of p21CIP1 protein and cell cycle arrest after inhibition of Aurora B kinase is attributed to aneuploidy and reactive oxygen species.
TL;DR: It is shown that a subset of p53-target genes are induced in a p38-dependent manner upon inhibition of Aurora B, and that the cell cycle arrest after Aurora B inhibition depends on p53 and pRB tumor suppressor pathways.

A role for p38 in transcriptional elongation of p21CIP1 in response to Aurora B inhibition
TL;DR: It is shown that p38 is required for the acute cell cycle arrest in G1 and to prevent endoreduplication when Aurora B is inhibited, and an unexpected role of p38 in cell cycle regulation is identified, by promoting the transcriptional elongation of the cell cycle inhibitor p21.

Designing and development of phthalimides as potent anti-tubulin hybrid molecules against malaria.
Vigyasa Singh,Rahul S. Hada,Ravi Jain,Manu Vashistha,Geeta Kumari,Snigdha Singh,Neha Sharma,Meenakshi Bansal,Poonam,Martin Zoltner,Conor R. Caffrey,Brijesh Rathi,Shailja Singh +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper , phthalimide analogs possessing the bioactive scaffolds, benzimidazole and 1,2,3-triazole, were evaluated for in vitro and in vivo anti-plasmodial activity without any apparent hemolysis, or cytotoxicity.

Targeting Artemisinin-Resistant Malaria by Repurposing the Anti-Hepatitis C Virus Drug Alisporivir
Ayushi Chaurasiya,Geeta Kumari,S. Garg,Rumaisha Shoaib,Zille Anam,Nishant Joshi,Jyoti Kumari,Jhalak Singhal,N. Singh,Shikha Kaushik,Amandeep Kaur Kahlon,Neha Dubey,Mukesh Maurya,Pallavi Srivastava,Manisha Marothia,P. Joshi,Kanika Gupta,Savita Saini,Gobardhan Das,Souvik Bhattacharjee,Shailja K. J. Singh,Anand Ranganathan +21 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors reported the rational repurposing of the anti-hepatitis C virus drug, alisporivir, a nonimmunosuppressive analog of cyclosporin A, against artemisinin-resistant strains of P. falciparum.

Multistage and transmission-blocking tubulin targeting potent antimalarial discovered from the open access MMV Pathogen Box
Geeta Kumari,Ravi Jain,Raj Kumar Sah,Inderjeet Kalia,Manu Vashistha,Pooja Singh,Agam P. Singh,Kirandeep Samby,Jeremy N. Burrows,Shailja Singh +9 more
TL;DR: The potential of targeting PfTubulin proteins in discovering and developing next-generation, multistage antimalarial agents for treating Multi-Drug Resistant (MDR) malaria parasites is highlighted.
