A comparison of different algorithms for the delineation of management zones.
F. Guastaferro,Annamaria Castrignanò,D. De Benedetto,D. Sollitto,Antonio Troccoli,Barbara Cafarelli +5 more
TL;DR: Compared procedures for creating management zones are compared and the relation of the MZs delineated with potential yield is determined to determine the importance of temporal variation in spatial variation of yield in rainfed conditions, which limits the use of theMZ approach.

Using landscape structure to develop quantitative baselines for protected area monitoring
Paola Mairota,Barbara Cafarelli,Luigi Boccaccio,Vincenzo Leronni,Rocco Labadessa,Vasiliki Kosmidou,Harini Nagendra +6 more
TL;DR: The framework developed has significant potential to capture information on major landscape structural features, identify problematic areas of increased fragmentation that can be used to prioritise research, monitoring and intervention, and provide early warning signals for immediate response to pressures increasing habitat fragmentation.

WNT pathway in oral cancer: epigenetic inactivation of WNT-inhibitors.
Giuseppe Pannone,Pantaleo Bufo,Angela Santoro,Renato Franco,Gabriella Aquino,Francesco Longo,Gerardo Botti,Rosario Serpico,Barbara Cafarelli,Alberto Abbruzzese,Michele Caraglia,Silvana Papagerakis,Lorenzo Lo Muzio +12 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that a cause of catenin delocalization in oral cancer could be due to WNT pathway activation, by epigenetic alterations of SFRP, WIF-1 and DKK-3 genes.
Very high resolution Earth observation features for monitoring plant and animal community structure across multiple spatial scales in protected areas
Paola Mairota,Barbara Cafarelli,Rocco Labadessa,Francesco P. Lovergine,Cristina Tarantino,Richard Lucas,Harini Nagendra,Raphael K. Didham +7 more
TL;DR: Textural features are important in the modelling of functional group-specific indices which represent BS in high conservation value habitat types, and provide a more direct link to species interaction networks and ecosystem functioning, than provided by traditional taxonomic diversity indices.

Consumer perception of attributes of organic food in Italy: A CUB model study
TL;DR: In this article , a survey has been conducted on a convenience sample of Italian consumers, recruited through a snowball sampling technique, and an approach based on a Combination of Uniform and shifted Binomial random variables, named CUB model, is adopted to analyse consumers' perceptions in terms of two latent components, feeling and uncertainty.
