TL;DR: Oocyte diameter distribution study indicated the species was a total spawner although clutches of ripe oocytes might be released over an extended time period andecundity was related to body weight and both absolute and relative fecundity increased with body size.
Abstract: The reproductive biology and breeding cycle of a tropical cyprinid, Thynnichthys thynnoides (Bleeker), from Chenderoh Reservoir, Malaysia was studied from June 1991 to November 1992. A total of 329 and 246 mature females and males and 167 immature females were sampled during the study. Three breeding cycles were observed and the cycles coincided with high reservoir water level which resulted in the floodings of the littoral zone. Five and four gonad developmental stages were observed for females and males, respectively. Oocyte diameter distribution study indicated the species was a total spawner although clutches of ripe oocytes might be released over an extended time period. Fecundity was related to body weight and both absolute and relative fecundity increased with body size. Absolute fecundity ranged from 26962 ± 1484 to 173520 ± 127420 eggs fish−1, whereas relative fecundity ranged from 121 ± 53 to 451 ± 259 eggs g−1 body weight, respectively.
TL;DR: The intensity of infection of trematode metacercariae was determined in five species of cyprinoid fish collected from Mae Ngud reservoir, Chiang Mai Province and the caudal fin was the area of highest infection of metacERCariae.
Abstract: The intensity of infection of trematode metacercariae was determined in five species of cyprinoid fish collected from Mae Ngud reservoir, Chiang Mai Province. These species were Thynnichthys thynnoides, Puntioplites proctozysron, Hampala macrolepidota, Puntius leiacanthus and Puntius gonionotus. T. thynnoides contained the highest number (83.0%) of metacercariae, whereas P gonionotus had the fewest (0.19%). The caudal fin was the area of highest infection of metacercariae (49.39 %), with the anal fin having the fewest (5.93%). Most metacercariae was isolated from Haplorchis taichui (63.27%), with an intensity variation of 0.3-165.2 metacercariae/fish.
TL;DR: In this article, a review of all the information published worldwide about ten fish species that contribute significantly to Cambodian fishery resources is presented, and the authors conclude that these fish species are the ones that contribute the most to Cambodia's fisheries.

TL;DR: The result of present study concluded that O. hasselti and T. thynnoides are omnivores.
Abstract: Gut contents of the hard-lipped barb (Osteochilus hasselti (Valenciennes, 1842)) and the tiny scale barb (Thynnichthys thynnoides (Bleeker, 1852)) were analyzed. Fish samples were collected from Kaeng Lawa, Khon Kaen Province, northeastern Thailand during the hot season (April and May 2009) and the late rainy season (September 2009). The percentage of frequency of occurrences (%F) and percentage of proportions (%P) of food items were evaluated. O. hasselti consumed 11 food items, only 7 categories were found in both seasons which consisted of detritus (66.67%, 42.00%P), plant parts (21.34%, 35.00%P), algae (4.00%, 9.00%P), unidentified items (5.34%, 4.00%P), protozoa (1.06%, 2.00%P), aquatic insect fragments (0.53%, 2.00%P) and diatoms (1.06%, 0.30%P), respectively. Whereas, T. thynnoides consumed 7 food items and only 5 food catergories were found in both seasons consisting of detritus (87.36%, 70.00%P), rotifers (7.37%, 6.00%P), unidentified items (2.11%, 3.00%P), plant parts (2.11%, 1.00%P) and aquatic insect fragments (1.05%, 3.00%P). From Chi-Square test for independence, it was found that %P of food items depended on season and fish species (p < 0.05). The result of present study, it was concluded that O. hasselti and T. thynnoides are omnivores.

TL;DR: Study on the spawning aspects of Thynnichthys thynnoides in the floodplain of Kampar Kiri River was conducted using experimental gillnet and trap, finding the Fish is indieaied to be a total spawner.
Abstract: Study on the spawning aspects of Thynnichthys thynnoides in the floodplain of Kampar Kiri River was conducted from June 2006 to December 2006, using experimental gillnet and trap. Total samples were 852 individuals, comprised 479 individuals from Mentulik (294 males and 185 females) and 373 individuals from Simalinyang (197 males and 176 females). The range of total length was between 94-198 mm for fishes caught from Mentulik and 104-227 mm from Simalinyang. Sex ratio was counted for fishes in QSIIV. Sex ratio is balanced for fish in Mentulik and unbalanced for fish in Simalinyang. The first size of maturity for male in Mentulik and in Simalinyang were 105 and 118 mm; while for female ones were 109 and 108 mm. Presumably, the spawning season is on September-December with the peak spawning in October. Fecundity ranged 781-27135 eggs for fish from Mentulik and 797-35804 eggs from Simalinyang. The Fish is indieaied to be a total spawner.
