TL;DR: In this paper, a caulking cartridge includes an end closure disc fixed in place at one end of the cylindrical body of the cartridge, and a shutoff discharge nozzle comprises a circular base or flange portion seated against the closure disc and rotatably mounted relative thereto.
Abstract: The caulking cartridge includes an end closure disc fixed in place at one end of the cylindrical body of the cartridge. The shutoff discharge nozzle comprises a circular base or flange portion seated against the end closure disc and rotatably mounted relative thereto. The dispensing opening formed in the closure disc and the discharge passage in the nozzle, which are radially offset with respect to the axis of rotation of the nozzle by substantially the same distance, may be aligned to permit dispensing of the material or nonaligned to prevent dispensing and drooling of the material upon rotation of the cartridge body relative to the discharge nozzle without removing the cartridge from the caulking gun.
TL;DR: In this paper, an axial body component with a bore for transfer of the fluid plastic from the molding machine to the injection molding cavity through a nozzle head is presented.
Abstract: A shut-off nozzle for the injection molding of fluid plastics. The nozzle includes an axial body component with a bore for transfer of the fluid plastic from the molding machine to the molding cavity through a nozzle head. The nozzle body carries thereon an actuating cylinder mechanism for selective actuation of a core plug and valve assembly. The valve is reciprocated to fully close or fully open a delivery bore in the nozzle head.
TL;DR: A vented tank has a receptacle fitting at its fill port that mates with a nozzle on the end of a supply hose as mentioned in this paper, which is equipped with a normally closed snap acting valve which is cocked open during the filling operation and snaps closed in response to abrupt rise in back pressure.
Abstract: A vented tank has a receptacle fitting at its fill port that mates with a nozzle on the end of a supply hose. Both the receptacle fitting and the nozzle have normally closed valves which open in response to mating of the two parts. The nozzle fitting is equipped with a normally closed snap acting valve which is cocked open during the filling operation and snaps closed in response to abrupt rise in back pressure. During the filling operation a tank vent is open but closes in response to rise in the liquid level and thereby creates the back pressure. The tank vent also closes automatically if the tank is turned over.
TL;DR: In this article, a fuel dispensing nozzle has a diaphragm responsive to vacuum for shutting off the flow of fuel through the nozzle, with a vent to atmosphere through a tube extending to the mouth of the nozzle spout and closeable by fuel in the tank being filled.
Abstract: A fuel dispensing nozzle has a diaphragm responsive to vacuum for shutting off the flow of fuel through the nozzle, the diaphragm chamber having a vent to atmosphere through a tube extending to the mouth of the nozzle spout and closeable by fuel in the tank being filled to cause vacuum to actuate the diaphragm and shut off the fuel flow through the nozzle, a valve in the vent tube, a piston for closing the vent tube valve in response to vapor pressure in the tank being filled, a vapor return conduit providing vapor communication between the interior of the tank being filled and the fuel source, the vent tube valve piston being exposed to vapor pressure in the vapor return conduit, whereby to shut off the flow of fuel through the nozzle when predetermined vapor pressure occurs in the tank being filled, and additional means holding the vent tube valve closed and closing the vapor return conduit to prevent vapor leakage from the fuel source except when the spout is inserted in the filler inlet of a tank, and operable upon insertion of the spout into a tank to release the vent tube valve and thereby break the vacuum acting on the automatic shut-off valve diaphragm to open the shut-off valve and permit the flow of fuel from the nozzle through the spout into the tank to be filled.
