TL;DR: In this paper, a tamper-resistant store of a circuit contained by a token was proposed, where the secret key of a public key encryption system was used to decrypt the enciphered message and a distinctive message.
Abstract: When a computer user is granted access to certain capabilities of a computer he is often given a password signifying these capabilities. A problem arises in that unauthorized users may copy the password and so gain access to the capabilities. In the present invention an enciphered message relating to capabilities is stored in the tamper-resistant store of a circuit contained by a token. The store also holds the secret key of a public key encryption system so that the enciphered message and a distinctive message can be transformed ("signed") using the secret key and passed to the computer. The corresponding public key may then be used by the computer to carry out an inverse transverse form and check the enciphered and distinctive messages against signals sent from the token. If this check is successful the required access is granted. Preferably the public key is part of the enciphered message, especially where the token grants access to a distributed or fragmented computer system, since this avoids the necessity of making public keys available throughout a computer system.
TL;DR: In this article, credit card numbers are tokenized using a pre-generated token map and absent the use of a networked database that stores a relatively large quantity of credit card number in a central location.
Abstract: Provided are devices, methods, systems, computer readable storage media and other means for tokenizing data. In some examples, credit card numbers are tokenized using a pre-generated token map and absent the use of a networked database that stores a relatively large quantity of credit card numbers in a central location. The token map may be generated by a token map generator such that the token map can be used by a tokenizer to replace a portion of an account number with a token, and by a detokenizer to replace the token with the original portion of the account number. A pre-parser and parser may also be used to locate an account number and/or token in a message received over a network.
TL;DR: In this article, an end user computer is assigned a multicast content distribution group by a network service intelligence platform, and the credentials include an authorization key as well as identifications of the user and the requested content.
Abstract: An end user computer is assigned a multicast content distribution group by a network service intelligence platform. The network service intelligence platform authenticates a token sent by the user and signed by a third part content controller, and provides the user with credentials for joining the group. The credentials include an authorization key as well as identifications of the user and the requested content. The credentials are encrypted and authenticated by the third party content controller. The user includes the encrypted and authenticated credentials in a join request sent to a network resource, such as an edge router. After verifying the credentials, the network resource adds the end user computer to the multicast group.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method for authenticating a user of a mobile computing device to a content server by establishing a communication session between a target computing device and the content server that is identified by a session ID.
Abstract: Devices and methods for authenticating a user of a mobile computing device to a content server include establishing a communication session between a target computing device and the content server that is identified by a session ID. The target computing device generates a pairing token using the session ID, which pairing token may be a two-dimensional bar code such as a quick response (“QR”) code, and presents the pairing token to the mobile computing device. The mobile computing device captures the pairing token and authenticates the user of the mobile computing device to an authentication server. The target computing device receives an authentication token from the authentication server in response to the mobile computing device successfully authenticating the user to the authentication server. The target computing device accesses content on the content server using the authentication token. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a method and mechanism to enforce reduced access via restricted access tokens, where a process is associated with a restricted token, and when the restricted process attempts to perform an action on a resource, a security machanism compares the access token information with security information associated with the resource to grant or deny access.
Abstract: A method and mechanism to enforce reduced access via restricted access tokens. Restricted access tokens are based on an existing token, and have less access than that existing token. A process is associated with a restricted token, and when the restricted process attempts to perform an action on a resource, a security machanism compares the access token information with security information associated with the resource to grant or deny access. Application programs may have restriction information stored in association therewith, such that when launched, a restricted token is created for that application based on the restriction information thereby automatically reducing that application's access. Applications may be divided into defferent access levels such as privileged and non-privileged portions, thereby automatically restricting the actions a user can perform via that application. Also, the system may enforce running with reduced access by running user prodesses with a restricted token, and then requiring a definite action by the user to specifically override actions that are restricted by temporarily running with the user's normal token.
