TL;DR: A Multimedia Mobile Framework, MMF, is presented to provide mobile applications with flexibility and reusability and it has been relied upon to develop a multimedia editor for M-Learning applications running on Android platform.
Abstract: This paper presents a Multimedia Mobile Framework, MMF, to provide mobile applications with flexibility and reusability. The proposed framework integrates fundamental design patterns (GoF), visualization patterns, and sound patterns. The fundamental design patterns include factory method, composite, state, and flyweight after adapting them for Android environment. The visualization patterns are modified and adapted to match MMF. Eventually, the sound patterns to convert from text to speech and vice versa are introduced as new patterns for mobile applications. In all stages, the Android Activity class is employed throughout MMF patterns. To emphasize the significance of MMF, it has been relied upon to develop a multimedia editor for M-Learning applications running on Android platform. In addition, specific quality metrics were selected and the performance of such pattern based editor is quantitatively compared with that of traditionally developed one.
TL;DR: This paper proposes to develop integrated APIs by utilizing design patterns, including Adapter Pattern, Factory Pattern, for developers to create cross-platform social robots.
Abstract: People nowadays would rather spend less time with their friends than on the services like Facebook or Twitter on their smartphones. Many business and enterprises start to use software robot to promote their products and interact with customers with less cost and more efficiency. Due to various APIs from different social platforms, developers have to follow specific rules while developing robots. Therefore, in this paper, we propose to develop integrated APIs by utilizing design patterns, including Adapter Pattern, Factory Pattern, for developers to create cross-platform social robots.
TL;DR: In this paper, a non-forgeable object class is defined to include an attribute slot that can be set by an approved factory and a predicate method that is satisfied only if the attribute slot has been set by the approved factory.
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for defining a non-forgeable object is provided In one embodiment, a non-forgeable object class is defined to include an attribute slot that can be set by an approved factory The non-forgeable object class is further defined to include a predicate method that is satisfied only if the attribute slot has been set by an approved factory
TL;DR: The proposed strategy, based on the object-oriented creational pattern, was evaluated by using a 4-generator multi-machine power system and shown that the proposed strategy was able to provides a good power system dynamic performance.
Abstract: The development of software for dynamic simulation of electrical power systems requires a comprehensive range of complex studies, which encompasses many areas of electrical engineering as well as software engineering. This study aims at to develop an efficient strategy applied to the development of software tools for dynamic power systems simulations studies. The proposed strategy is based on the object-oriented creational pattern. This approach has the advantage of makes easy the application development process, by performing a mapping between block diagram model representation and the corresponding specialized classes. Firstly, a conceptual mapping between block diagram and the object-oriented paradigm, based on the Factory Method, is carried out. After that, some flexible strategies are presented in order to obtain an improved efficiency for the numerical routines, based on the Builder standard. This allows for the parameterization of the selected numerical integration techniques. The proposed strategy was evaluated by using a 4-generator multi-machine power system. The simulation results shown that the proposed strategy was able to provides a good power system dynamic performance.
TL;DR: This paper discusses how design and programming expertise of factory design pattern can be used with Struts to manage data objects and database connections efficiently.
Abstract: The Jakarta Struts is one of the most widely being used J2EE frameworks. It incorporates programming and design expertise from some important design patterns like MVC, Command, Front Controller, Adaptor and Template Method design patterns. The Struts framework provides utility classes to handle many of the most common tasks in Web application development i.e. classes for security, encryption, cryptography etc. This paper discusses how design and programming expertise of factory design pattern can be used with Struts to manage data objects and database connections efficiently. The Factory Pattern promotes loose coupling by eliminating the need to bind application- specific classes into the code.
