Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system or method for text speech synthesis that can generate a more natural synthesized speech conforming to the contents of a document. SOLUTION: For a text speech synthesizing method of synthesizing a speech waveform by inputting a text character string, analyzing language information regarding the text character string, and generating a rhythm pattern according to the analyzed language information, provided are a word database in which language information including information regarding at least grammar information, readings, and accents by words is registered and a rhythm database in which rhythm information for generating a rhythm pattern of a synthesized speech is registered, and impression property information is imparted to the words registered in the word database and rhythm information registered in the rhythm database corresponds to the impression property information. When a rhythm pattern is generated, a rhythm pattern to be generated is changed according to the rhythm information corresponding to the impression property information. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
