TL;DR: It is shown that the method captures the intermittent nature of the feature as oneofthemodes ofvariation, and demonstrated that, where features are intermittently present, greater model specifl city is achieved.

Abstract: Pointdistributionmodelshavebeensuccessfulindescribingtheshape constraintsontwodimensionalobjectsforshapedescriptionandimage search. It is often the case that a class of objects to be modelled contains certain features which may be wholly present or absent in difierentinstances. Moustachesonfacesareacommonexample. Here we describe a method of coding the presence or absence of a feature within the PDM framework. We show that the method captures the intermittentnatureofthefeatureasoneofthemodesofvariation, and demonstrate that, where features are intermittently present, greater model speciflcity is achieved.

Robust Non-Rigid Object Tracking Using Point Distribution Models.
Tom Mathes,Justus Piater +1 more
- 01 Jan 2005
TL;DR: A robust approach to non-rigid object tracking in video sequences by a 2-dimensional point distribution model whose landmarks correspond to interest points that are automatically extracted from the object and described by their geometrical position and their local appearance.

Robust non-rigid object tracking using point distribution manifolds
Tom Mathes,Justus Piater +1 more
- 12 Sep 2006
TL;DR: An approach to non-rigid object tracking designed to handle textured objects in crowded scenes captured by non-static cameras, which results in remarkable robustness to severe partial occlusions.
Implicit, view invariant, linear flexible shape modelling
TL;DR: An Integrated Shape and Pose Model (ISPM) that integrates a hierarchical principal components analysis model with a multi-view geometry model, was constructed and shown, on data from a small database of face images, to outperform previous models.

Automatic Driver Head State Estimation in Challenging Naturalistic Driving Videos
TL;DR: A novel three-stage video analysis system is presented for tracking head position and estimating head pose and eye and mouth states and the accuracy of the new head pose estimation module is competitive with the state of the art on publicly available data sets and produces good qualitative results on SHRP 2 NDS videos.

Exploiting Weak Shape Constraints to Segment Capillary Images in Microangiopathy
Mike Rogers,Jim Graham,Rayaz A. Malik +2 more
- 11 Oct 2000
TL;DR: Despite the fact that the shapes have no identifying landmarks, the weak constraints imposed by statistical shape modelling combined with genetic search can provide accurate segmentations in microangiopathy.
