Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve startability under starting conditions in which the fuel has difficulty vaporizing by combining the operation of the intake valve, which is a variable valve, and fuel injection. SOLUTION: The intake valve is opened a first time at crank angle A to crank angle B during the intake stroke under conditions in which fuel at a low temperature and during heavy fuel use has the most difficulty vaporizing (S11 to S14). After the fuel is injected at crank angle C (S15, S16), the intake valve is opened a second time at crank angle D to crank angle E (S17 to S20).

- 15 Mar 2001
TL;DR: In this article, a method for cylinder-charge control is described as implementing an internal recirculation of residual gas in the cylinder, through controlling the closing times of at least one exhaust valve of the respective cylinder and by opening at least 1 intake valve in the vicinity of top dead center of the piston.

Fuel injection control device of cylinder injection type internal combustion engine
Fukazawa Osamu
- 19 Aug 2004
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method to secure stable combustion performance not influenced by properties of fuel in a cylinder injection type engine, where the amount of time (time for atomizing fuel) from when fuel is injected into the cylinder until ignition is performed is enlarged so that even if heavy fuel can be enough atomized to form air fuel mixture in suitable timing corresponding to each combustion mode.
