Abstract: A method of migrating seismic data using offset checkshot survey measurements. The offset checkshot survey measurements involve raypaths similar to the migration raypaths for the seismic data, and are used to determine direct arrival traveltimes to receivers in a borehole. Embodiments of the invention provide for direct use of the traveltimes in migration, or indirect use of the traveltimes in migration via construction of a migration velocity model. The velocity model embodiments further provide for either traveltime error correction via use of interpolated error functions or construction of migration error tables. The invention can be employed for time, depth or Kirchhoff migration, in either two or three dimension, and in either prestack or poststack applications. The invention may be used to migrate any type of seismic data, including compressional-wave, shear-wave, and converted-wave seismic data.

Imaging near-borehole structure using directional acoustic-wave measurement
TL;DR: In this paper, a four-component cross-dipole data set measured in a deviated borehole in combination with the directionality of the compressional waves in the dipole data gives the orientation of bed boundaries crossing the borehole.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method for processing crosswell seismic data from a region of the earth's subsurface generated by transmitting a seismic signal from a plurality of source positions within at least one borehole within said region and detecting said seismic signal at the receiver positions.

Migration velocity analysis with the Kirchhoff integral

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an implementation of the Kirchhoff integral which makes the wavefront focusing analysis practical for time-migration velocity analysis, and the velocity is determined from the depth where the focused wavefront attains the maximum amplitude.
