Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To take the expansion/contraction of a paper width into account when the result of marginless printing of a size smaller than the set paper width is to be obtained SOLUTION: A printer is provided with a first cutter for cutting in a right-angle direction to a recording paper transfer direction, and a second cutter for cutting a cut recording paper sheet by right angles to the cutting line The printer capable of obtaining the marginless printing result on the paper cut by the second cutter when receiving printing data which includes combined image data for printing variably subjected to doubling processing to realize the marginless printing, and a cutting instruction command generated correspondingly to the data for instructing a cut by the second cutter has a paper width sensor for measuring the set recording paper width A size of the expansion/contraction of the recording paper sheet is determined from a difference between a recording paper size estimated from the printing data upon receipt of an output of the sensor and the calculated paper width Data of the cutting instruction command is corrected accordingly, and a control for the second cutter is executed with the use of the corrected data COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO

Expanding a sheet to be cut when an ink dot is present in a cut position
Shoji Takayama
- 17 Sep 2013
TL;DR: In this paper, a printing apparatus has: a dot discrimination section that discriminates whether a print dot is present in a discrimination target area D including a cut position at which an elongated sheet is cut in a sheet width direction, the target area being at least either one of a front edge area D1 or a rear edge region D2 having a predetermined length in a longitudinal direction of the sheet in a print area.
