Optimizing the representation of intervals
TL;DR: A representation of intervals is proposed that, instead of both endpoints, uses the lower endpoint and the width of the interval, which is more efficient and better utilization of the available bits because the width is represented with low precision.

Variable-step variable-order 3-stage Hermite-Birkhoff ODEDDE solver of order 5 to 15
Hemza Yagoub
- 01 Jan 2009
TL;DR: In this paper, a variable-step variable-order 3-stage Hermite-Birkhoff (HB) method is presented for solving non-stiff differential equations. But the method is not suitable for non-linear Vandermonde type systems.

A hardware error estimate for floating-point computations
Tomás Lang,Javier D. Bruguera +1 more
- 28 Aug 2008
TL;DR: A hardware-computed estimate of the roundoff error in floating-point computations is proposed, whose value is close to the relative error but does not have these anomalies and whose main cost issue might be the additional storage and the narrow datapath required for the estimate computation.

Data-Driven Hazardous Gas Dispersion Modeling Using the Integration of Particle Filtering and Error Propagation Detection
TL;DR: Results of accuracy analysis and error inspection imply that Gaussian dispersion models based on particle filtering and error propagation detection have better performance than traditional dispersion model in practice though sacrificing some computational efficiency.

Modèle de coopération entre calcul formel et calcul numérique pour la simulation et l'optimisation des systèmes
Karim Alloula
- 09 Nov 2007
TL;DR: In this paper, a demarche orientee modele is proposed for the development of a systeme de calcul based on the cooperation entre calcul formel et numerique, which is of type complementaire: les roles sont definis a priori.
