Abstract: The invention provides an article (20) comprising a substrate (1) having a micro-structured surface that defines a plurality of channels (4) and a fluid that is separated from the substrate until activation of the article is desired, wherein the article is designed such that it can be activated at a desired point in time to allow contact of the fluid with at least one of the channels of the substrate, said article being adapted for providing a measurable variable electrical characteristic, said variability being in correspondence with the progress of the fluid as it migrates through the channels of the substrate.

Electronically readable system and device with changing codes
Fritz Braunberger
- 13 Feb 2017
TL;DR: In this paper, an electronically readable device and system is incorporated within and/or attached to an object to validate and or authenticate the object, such that for each period of time the code is different than a previous period and only the database knows in advance what code should be for a given period.

Cellular retroreflective sheeting
Joseph M. Mcgrath
- 17 Feb 1976
TL;DR: In this article, a cellular retroreflective sheeting, which consists of a base layer of retro reflective elements and a transparent cover film supported in spaced relation away from the base layer by a network of narrow intersecting bonds, is given greater durability by use of bonds that are cured in situ after they have been thermoformed into sealing contact between the cover film and base layer.

Cube-corner retroreflective articles having wide angularity in multiple viewing planes
Timothy L. Hoopman
- 30 Jul 1984
TL;DR: In this article, a set of cube-corner retroreflective articles having improved angularity along multiple viewing planes are provided. The articles are rotated 180° with respect to one another, the three lateral mutually perpendicular faces of the elements being defined at their bases by linear edges that lie in a common plane, and the optical axes being tilted toward one another.
