Abstract: Method, Computer System and Software Application for Providing a Lock Service. The invention refers to a method for locking data objects. The invention is characterized in that - a lock service automatically selects, e.g. by evaluating configurable settings, whether a) logical locks for the data objects are set when changes of the data objects are requested or b) logical locks for the data objects are set when the first or the or each further processing module is started or c) no logical locks for the data objects are set when processing the data objects.

Database usage trends based on database lock requests
Philip Thomas Hartman
- 29 Nov 2012
TL;DR: In this article, an enterprise locking service coordinates multiple cooperating applications to ensure that one and only one user is modifying a database record at a given time, through monitoring and tracking requests for database locks, it is also able to determine database usage trends under various metrics.

TL;DR: In this article, a lock manager processes lock requests by checking if any outstanding, previously granted lock is unconditionally conflicting or conditionally conflicting with the requested lock, and resolves a conditional conflict by determining whether the write parameters for the write lock in question are a subset of the read parameter for the read lock.

TL;DR: In this paper, a process for moving data objects in a computer system from a first to a second storage location is described, comprising: selecting one or more data objects having an identifier (ID) from the first storage location, storing said ID in at least one lock object, storing a data object, the ID of which is contained in the at least 1 lock object at the second storage locations, and assigning the second location to the ID in the one lock objects, d) deleting the ID from the earliest at which step d) for the respective data object assigned to that ID
