Abstract: The invention discloses a method and a device for forwarding traffic in a stacking device. The method is applied in the stacking device comprising a plurality of member devices, and comprises the following steps that the member devices acquire the forwarding list item specifications of all member devices in the stacking device; when forwarding list item specifications exceed other member devices of self forwarding list item specifications in the stacking device, the member devices acquire a member device with maximum forwarding list item specifications as an agent device, and sends all or part traffic to be forwarded to the agent device; and the agent device carries out traffic forwarding. The method makes use of the fact that the stacking device has the forwarding capability of a large-size member device to provide agent forwarding function for a small-size member device; therefore, the method ensures identical overall forwarding specifications of the stacking device comprising the member device of different forwarding specifications and brings the forwarding capability of the all member devices in the stacking device into full play.
