Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify the part of a driving circuit for cutting down the cost thereof by a method wherein a self-scanning type light emitting element array LMA is used as the switch element array SDA for transfer (scanning) while the light emitting functions are divided into another light emitting array in almost the same structure. CONSTITUTION:Within the title light emitting diode, multiple switch elements S(-2)-S(2) having the first control electrode to externally control the threshold voltage or current for switching operations are arrayed. Besides, the clock lines CL1-CL2 to transfer data are connected to respective switch elements S(-2)-S(2). On the other hand, multiple light emitting elements L(-2) L(0), L(2) having the switch element array SDA transmitting signals to a part of the switch elements S(-2)-S(2) as well as the second control electrode to externally control the threshold voltage or current for light emitting operations are arrayed. Furthermore, the current quantity fed by current feeding lines is controlled by previously provided light emitting array LMA and the third electric means so that the data on the ON/OFF status of the switch elements may be written in the light emitting array LMA to be stored for the specific term written in the LMA.
