Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the diffracting optical element which has high diffraction efficiency over a wide wavelength range and is superior in high volume productivity. SOLUTION: The diffracting optical element comprises stacked optical material and has the relief pattern of a diffraction grating formed on at least one boundary surface of mutually different optical materials; and one optical material forming the relief pattern is glass satisfying conditional expression nd<=1.62, 55<=νd, and Tg<600 and the other optical material which forms the relief pattern is resin satisfying conditional expressions nd<=1.6 and 30<=νd<=60 (νd: Abbe number, nd, nF, and nC: refractive indexes of the optical material to lines (d), F, and C, Tg: transition point temperature of glass).
