Abstract: The invention relates to the filed of optical communication systems, in particular to a dicode layered space-time encoding system and an encoding-based optical communication method. The encoding system comprises a data stream transmitting end, a data stream receiving end, and an optical MIMO channel for connecting the data stream transmitting end and the data stream receiving end. The data streamtransmitting end comprises a channel outer encoder and an interweaving demultiplexer, wherein the channel outer encoder is used for performing the first-order channel encoding on information bit stream, and the interweaving demultiplexer is used for performing data interweaving on the information bit stream subjected to the first-order channel encoding and de-multiplexing into N paths of data code streams. Each path of data code stream is subjected to the second-order encoding through a channel inner encoder and modulation through a modulation module in turn to form signal code stream; and the signal code stream is transmitted to the data stream receiving end through N paths of optical MIMO channels. The dicode layered space-time encoding system and the encoding-based optical communication method have the advantages that: the optical transmission capacity is improved by using the optical MIMO channels, series (cascade) interconnection encoding for multi-channel transmission is combined by interweaving, and the transmission quality is improved.
