Clear cell sarcoma with melanin pigment.

TL;DR: It is suggested that clear cell sarcoma is a heterogeneous entity, and that a number of different soft tissue neoplasms may present with a clear cell pattern, making diagnosis and classification difficult.

Abstract: A patient with a clear cell sarcoma of tendons and aponeuroses arising in the left sacral area is reported. The tumor grossly contained two black foci that had pigment with the staining characteristics of melanin on light microscopy. Electron microscopy of these areas showed the pigment to be within melanosomes. This is the second report of a neoplasm diagnosed as clear cell sarcoma in which melanin was demonstrated; the possibility that the tumor represents a soft tissue variant of malignant melanoma is discussed. It is suggested that clear cell sarcoma is a heterogeneous entity, and that a number of different soft tissue neoplasms may present with a clear cell pattern, making diagnosis and classification difficult.

Tumors and Tumorlike Lesions of Bone and Joints
Fritz Schajowicz
- 16 Mar 1981
TL;DR: One of the most important aspects of orthopedics, bone pathology, has not attracted enough specialists worldwide to handle the complex problems, encountered daily, that only an expert and experienced pathologist is capable of resolving.

Clear-cell sarcoma of tendons and aponeuroses. An immunohistochemical and electron microscopic analysis indicating neural crest origin.
TL;DR: The immunohistochemical and electron microscopic findings indicate that clear-cell sarcoma is a homogenous entity among soft tissue sarcomas, of probable neural crest derivation.

Clear cell sarcoma (malignant melanoma) of soft parts: A clinicopathologic study of 30 cases.
Wendy Deenik,Wolter J. Mooi,Emiel J. Th. Rutgers,Johannes L. Peterse,Augustinus A. M. Hart,Bin B. R. Kroon +5 more
TL;DR: The 5-year survival rate of the 29 patients was 54%. For the 23 patients who presented with localized disease, the 5-life survival and 5-time disease free survival were 65%. Eleven of these patients remained disease free after resection of the primary tumor.

Malignant melanoma of soft parts (clear cell sarcoma). A study of 17 cases, with emphasis on prognostic factors.
TL;DR: Patient survival was relatively poor overall, and both survival and distant metastasis were correlated with tumor size, but clinical and pathologic factors, including patient age, sex, and race, tumor location, duration of symptoms, initial therapy, mitotic rate, tumor necrosis, proportion of epithelioid cells, and nuclear pleomorphism had no significant relation to survival or distant metastases when tumor size was taken into account.

Clear cell sarcoma of tendons and aponeuroses (malignant melanoma of soft parts) in the duodenum: the first visceral case
TL;DR: This tumour was removed by a Whipple's operation from the descending part of the duodenum of a 38‐year‐old male and it is believed that this tumour is the first reported clear cell sarcoma in a visceral location.

Clear-cell sarcoma of tendons and aponeuroses. an analysis of 21 cases.
TL;DR: This paper calls attention to a peculiar and hitherto undescribed sarcoma, arising chiefly from large tendons and aponeuroses of the extremities and displaying a characteristic structure wholly unlike other recognized malignant tumors associated with these tissues.

Golgi-melanosome relationship in human melanoma in vitro
TL;DR: The origin of the melanosome in human melanoma in vitro was reinvestigated using an established cell line and it was found that most premelanosomes are contained in and develop within a tubular smooth endoplasmic reticulum, which is connected with the Golgi apparatus during melanogenesis.

Ultrastructural Comparison of Two Human Malignant Melanoma Cell Lines
Gerd G. Maul,M. M. Romsdahl +1 more
TL;DR: The ultrastructure of 2 established human melanoma cell lines (LeCa and MeGo) and their clones was investigated and hydrolytic enzymes function in the melanosome to terminate melanogenesis and the enzymes indicate hydrolysis of melanosomes as they accumulate inThe melanoma cells.
Clear‐cell sarcoma of tendons and aponeuroses. Three additional cases
TL;DR: Clear‐cell sarcoma of tendons and aponeuroses is an uncommon tumor, which is readily identified and tends to metastasize to regional lymph nodes and beyond.
