Abstract: An adaptive eigenstructure method for angle-of-arrival estimation is presented. This method consists of applying subspace iteration to a special structured basis of the signal or noise subspace. At each iteration, the method eliminates the spurious zeros associated with the degeneracy of the noise subspace and provides estimates of the zeros containing the desired angle-of-arrival information. Thus, it is well-suited for tracking nonstationary sources. The method is the adaptive version of the reduced MUSIC block processing method. >

- 01 Mar 1984
TL;DR: A new, promising algorithm for adaptive estimation of eigenvectors corresponding to the smallest eigenvalues is introduced, and a generalization of Thompson's algorithm for estimating several eigenvctors is represented.

Zero-tracking adaptive filters
S. Orfanidis,L. Vail +1 more
TL;DR: A new type of adaptive filter is proposed which can directly estimate and track its own zeros and is equivalent to the usual LMS algorithm, and thus it shares the same convergence properties with the latter.

Rotational search methods for adaptive Pisarenko harmonic retrieval
Daniel R. Fuhrmann,Bede Liu +1 more
TL;DR: Two adaptation algorithms for adaptive Pisarenko harmonic retrieval are described, each derived by considering the associated minimum eigenvalue problem as an optimization problem which seeks the minimum of a quadratic cost function given a hyperspherical constraint.

On the high resolution and unbiased frequency estimates of sinusoids in white noise--A new adaptive approach
F. Soong,A. M. Peterson +1 more
- 03 May 1982
TL;DR: A new adaptive algorithm is proposed to give an unbiased and high resolution frequency estimate of sinusoids in white noise with all the advantages of the normalized LS lattice such as fast computations, low round-off noise and an easy stability check, etc. as well as fast convergence rate of the inverse power iteration method.
