Abstract: The key for reading Paul is to be found in his own experience of grace. The divine intervention in his life -God reveals to Paul His Son in Jesus- was the content of his gospel and the reason for his mission. The essence of his preaching, the core of the doctrine on justification, can be understood as an explicitation of the innermost living of Paul: in him the believing person and the gospel believed are not separable.
