TL;DR: In this article, an analysis for level ice acting on a sloping structure is presented, which is relevant to the forces caused by sheet ice and the consolidated layers of wide ridges and rubble fields in first year ice.
Abstract: Structures in first-year ice are subject to ice loads from level sheet ice, pressure ridges and rubble fields. Wide ridges and rubble fields can be treated as a consolidated layer of level ice with the additional forces due to the sail and keel resistance. This paper presents an analysis for level ice acting on a sloping structure and is relevant to the forces caused by sheet ice and the consolidated layers of wide ridges and rubble fields in first-year ice. The method builds on the original two-dimensional analysis of Croasdale (1980) and incorporates adjustments for three-dimensional effects as well as in-plane compression. Also, the effects of ice rubble build-up in front of the structure are accounted for.
TL;DR: In this paper, a model for two-phase flow in a pump station is presented based on three-dimensional non-steady-state Reynolds equations and turbulence is modeled using the standard k-ω SST model.
Abstract: Amathematical model is presented for two-phase flow in a pump station. The model is based on three-dimensional non-steady-state Reynolds equations. Turbulence is modeled using the standard k-ω SST model. Two-phase flow is calculated by the VOF method. Analyses of liquid behavior are presented under different initial liquid levels in the station. A optimum value for the initial liquid level is obtained. Areas of vortex formation are shown when the liquid level deviates from the recommended value. The effectiveness of the given pump station design is confirmed.
TL;DR: In this article, the developed technology of producing cements with biocidal properties and the results of investigating the physico-mechanical properties of the developed cements, cement pastes, and hardened composites are given.
Abstract: The developed technology of producing cements with biocidal properties and the results of investigating the physico-mechanical properties of the developed cements, cement pastes, and hardened composites are given. Data on the biostability of composites modified with sodium sulfate, sodium fluoride, and polyhexamethylene stearate are presented. Recommended biocidal binder compositions for manufacturing concretes and other cement composites are given.
TL;DR: In this article, the traditional Dupuis formula is replaced by the condition of the minimum of the functional reflecting the average quadratic norm of the departure of the curvilinear profile of the free surface from a straight line.
