Recently, an experimentally feasible three-party quantum sealed-bid auction protocol based on EPR pairs [Z.Y. Wang, Commun. Theor. Phys. 54 (2010) 997] was proposed. However, this study points out Wang's protocol cannot resist some internal bidders' attacks, such as the Twice-CNOT attack, the collusion attack. A malicious bidder can launch the Twice-CNOT attack to obtain the other's bid, or the dishonest auctioneer may collude with one bidder and help him/her win the action by changing his/her bid. For preventing against these attacks, a simple solution by using the QKD-based message encryption and a post-confirmation mechanism by adopting the hash function are proposed.

Attacks and Improvement of Quantum Sealed-Bid Auction with EPR Pairs

A new quantum secure direct communication (QSDC) scheme with authentication is proposed based on polarized photons and EPR pairs. EPR pairs are used to transmit information, while polarized photons are used to detect Eve and their encoding bases are used to transmit authentication information. Alice and Bob have their own identity number which is shared by legal users only. The identity number is encoded on the bases of polarized photons and distilled if there is no Eve. Compared with other QSDC schemes with authentication, this new scheme is considerably easier and less expensive to implement in a practical setting.

A New Quantum Secure Direct Communication Scheme with Authentication

The biggest obstacle for long distance quantum communication is the channel loss and the channel noise on photons. In this paper, a method to solve this problem was analyzed using inspection and power insertion (IPI). It is proved that quantum communication may be established over arbitrarily long distance using this technology. The amount of resources required is a polynomial function of the distance. IPI is proposed as a general technique to prolong quantum secure direct communication where secret messages are transmitted directly over a quantum channel.

In this paper, a theoretical scheme for tripartite quantum controlled teleportation is presented using the entanglement property of seven-qubit cluster state. This means that Alice wants to transmit a entangled state of particle a to Bob, Charlie wants to transmit a entangled state of particle b to David and Edison wants to transmit a entangled state of particle c to Ford via the control of the supervisor. In the end, we compared the aspects of quantum resource consumption, operation complexity, classical resource consumption, quantum information bits transmitted, success probability and efficiency with other schemes.

Tripartite Quantum Controlled Teleportation via Seven-Qubit Cluster State

Shi et al. (Phys. Lett. A 281:83–87, 2001) proposed a scheme which allows simultaneous realization of quantum key distribution and quantum authentication. However, this study points out a weakness in Shi et al.’s scheme, in which a malicious user can impersonate a legitimate participant without being detected. Furthermore, an improved scheme is proposed to avoid this weakness.

Comment on "Quantum Key Distribution and Quantum Authentication Based on Entangled State"

In this paper an efficient quantum secure direct communication (QSDC) scheme with authentication is presented, which is based on quantum entanglement and polarized single photons. The present protocol uses Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) pairs and polarized single photons in batches. A particle of the EPR pairs is retained in the sender's station, and the other is transmitted forth and back between the sender and the receiver, similar to the ``ping–pong'' QSDC protocol. According to the shared information beforehand, these two kinds of quantum states are mixed and then transmitted via a quantum channel. The EPR pairs are used to transmit secret messages and the polarized single photons used for authentication and eavesdropping check. Consequently, because of the dual contributions of the polarized single photons, no classical information is needed. The intrinsic efficiency and total efficiency are both 1 in this scheme as almost all of the instances are useful and each EPR pair can be used to carry two bits of information.

An efficient two-step quantum key distribution (QKD) protocol with orthogonal product states in the n⊗n(n≥3) Hilbert space is presented. In this protocol, the particles in the orthogonal product states form two particle sequences. The sender, Alice, first sends one sequence to the receiver, Bob. After Bob receives the first particle sequence, Alice and Bob check eavesdropping by measuring a fraction of particles randomly chosen. After ensuring the security of the quantum channel, Alice sends the other particle sequence to Bob. By making an orthogonal measurement on the two particle sequences, Bob can obtain the information of the orthogonal product states sent by Alice. This protocol has many distinct features such as great capacity, high efficiency in that it uses all orthogonal product states in distributing the key except those chosen for checking eavesdroppers.
