Manipulating electromagnetic responses of metal wires at the deep subwavelength scale via both near- and far-field couplings
TL;DR: In this paper, a hybrid coupling model containing both near and far-field couplings is developed for radiating two-resonator structures, and the authors demonstrate that the presence of far field coupling provides more flexibility in tuning lineshapes.

Design of guided Bloch surface wave resonance bio-sensors with high sensitivity
TL;DR: In this paper, the sensitivity of bio-sensors based on guided Bloch surface wave (BSW) resonance (GBR) is studied. But the sensitivity is proportional to the grating constant when the wavelength spectrum is analyzed, and inversely proportional to normal wave vector of the incident electromagnetic wave when the angular spectrum is resolved.

Optical Bloch oscillation and resonant Zener tunneling in one-dimensional quasi-period structures containing single negative materials
Xiubao Kang,Zhi-Guo Wang +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the optical Bloch oscillation and resonant Zener tunneling in macroscopic quasi-period structures of alternatively stratified single negative and dielectric slabs were studied.

Anomalous forward scattering of dielectric gain nanoparticles.
Ya-Ming Xie,Wei Tan,Zhi-Guo Wang +2 more
TL;DR: By introducing suitable gain in dielectric spherical particles, it is found that the electric and magnetic dipolar responses can achieve complete destructive interference at forward direction under certain incident wavelength.

Experimental study of quasi-one-dimensional comb-like photonic crystals containing left-handed material
TL;DR: In this article, a quasi-one-dimensional comb-like photonic crystals with backbone waveguide made of left-handed material are physically fabricated by using transmission lines and the transmission properties are experimentally investigated and it is found that the structures possess a special band gap.
