The predictive value of a preoperative systemic immune-inflammation index and prognostic nutritional index in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
Hongdian Zhang,Xiaobin Shang,Peng Ren,Lei Gong,Ashique Ahmed,Zhao Ma,Rong Ma,Xianxian Wu,Xiangming Xiao,Hongjing Jiang,Peng Tang,Zhentao Yu +11 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrate that the preoperative high SII and low PNI are powerful indicators of aggressive biology and poor prognosis for patients with ESCC and the combination of S II and PNI can enhance the accuracy of prognosis.

BNIP3 induces apoptosis and protective autophagy under hypoxia in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cell lines: BNIP3 regulates cell death
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the exposure of ESCC cells to hypoxia increased the autophagic punctate distribution of MDC staining and GFP-LC3 and that autophagy rate could be inhibited by BNIP3-siRNA, and the administration of theAutophagic inhibitor 3-methyladenine (3-MA) could augment BN IP3-induced cell apoptosis and death, suggesting that autophile plays a protective role under Hypoxia.

Pembrolizumab Combined With Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Versus Neoadjuvant Chemoradiotherapy Followed by Surgery for Locally Advanced Oesophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: Protocol for a Multicentre, Prospective, Randomized-Controlled, Phase III Clinical Study (Keystone-002)
Xiaobin Shang,Wencheng Zhang,Gang Zhao,Fei Liang,Chen Zhang,Jie Yue,Xiaofeng Duan,Zhao Ma,Chuang Chen,Qingsong Pang,Weihong Zhang,Liang Liu,Xiubao Ren,Bin Meng,Feng Zhang,Yegang Ma,Lin Zhang,Hecheng Li,Xiaozheng Kang,Yin Li,Hongjing Jiang +20 more
TL;DR: According to the hypothesis, preoperative pembrolizumab combined with chemotherapy will result in a better tumour response and prolong the survival of patients, with acceptable toxicity, according to the first prospectively randomized controlled trial designed to compare pembrology plus chemotherapy and chemoradiotherapy as neoadjuvant therapy for resectable ESCC.

Primary esophageal adenosquamous carcinoma: a retrospective analysis of 24 cases.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors conducted a retrospective review of 24 patients with primary esophageal adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) among 6546 patients who underwent transthoracic esophagectomy in a hospital.

Metastatic lymph node ratio demonstrates better prognostic stratification than pN staging in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma after esophagectomy.
Hongdian Zhang,Huagang Liang,Yongyin Gao,Xiaobin Shang,Lei Gong,Zhao Ma,Ke Sun,Peng Tang,Zhentao Yu +8 more
TL;DR: The proposed LNR category was superior to the conventional N category in predicting the prognosis of ESCC patients and the calibration curves for the probability of 3- and 5-year survival showed good consistency between nomogram prediction and actual observation.
