Anthranilic diamides: A new class of insecticides with a novel mode of action, ryanodine receptor activation
Daniel Cordova,Eric A. Benner,Matthew Sacher,James J. Rauh,Jeffrey S. Sopa,George Philip Lahm,Thomas Paul Selby,Thomas Martin Stevenson,Lindsey Flexner,Steven Gutteridge,Daniel F. Rhoades,Lihong Wu,Rejane M. Smith,Yong Tao +13 more
TL;DR: Calcium mobilization studies using mammalian cell lines indicate anthranilic diamides exhibit >500-fold differential selectivity toward insect, over mammalian, receptors, and offer a novel pharmacological tool for calcium signaling research in addition to a unique alternative to existing pest-management strategies.

Effects of lactic acid bacteria and molasses additives on the microbial community and fermentation quality of soybean silage.
TL;DR: The silage quality of soybean was improved with the addition of L and M, which could enhance the account of desirable Lactobacillus and inhibit the growth of undesirable microorganism such as Clostridia and Enterobacter.

Whole-cell biocatalysts by design
Baixue Lin,Yong Tao +1 more
TL;DR: A critical look at recent developments in whole-cell biocatalysis is taken, with an emphasis on strategies applied to designing and optimizing the organisms that are increasingly modified for efficient production of chemicals.
Bioelectrochemical systems for simultaneously production of methane and acetate from carbon dioxide at relatively high rate
TL;DR: In this article, the performance of bioelectrochemical systems based on electrochemically active mixed culture, capable of reducing CO2 to CH4 and CH3COOH via direct and/or indirect extracellular electron transfer, was described.

A new upgraded biogas production process: Coupling microbial electrolysis cell and anaerobic digestion in single-chamber, barrel-shape stainless steel reactor
TL;DR: In this paper, a single-chamber, barrel-shape stainless steel reactor was used to produce upgraded biogas, where the dominant microbes, hydrogenotrophic electromethanogens (e.g. Methanospirillum), utilized hydrogen gas generated at the inner surface of the reactor, which itself served as cathode of the MEC through small voltage addition.
