Secondary succession of plant communities in a subtropical mountainous region of SW China
TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the successional sequence of various plant communities in Luquan, Qiongzhusi, and Xishan near Kunming, central Yunnan.

Tourism: An Alternative to Development? Reconsidering Farming, Tourism, and Conservation Incentives in Northwest Yunnan Mountain Communities
TL;DR: In this paper, a case study was used to illustrate how local farmers involved in tourism changed their agricultural practices as a result of the transformations that took place in the area and examined tourism's expected benefits of poverty alleviation and conservation incentives.

Integration of Satellite Imagery, Topography and Human Disturbance Factors Based on Canonical Correspondence Analysis Ordination for Mountain Vegetation Mapping: A Case Study in Yunnan, China
TL;DR: The CCA ordination results showed that the vegetation spatial distribution patterns are strongly affected by topography and human disturbance factors, and the overall accuracy of vegetation classification was significantly improved by incorporating DEM or four CCA axes as additional channels in both the northern and southern study areas.

Mountain vegetation change quantification using surface landscape metrics in Lancang watershed, China
TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors employed the selected surface LPI method to assess vegetation pattern change in two mountainous areas of the Lancang watershed, in Yunnan Province, China, and showed that the surface approach to estimate changes of class area (CA), mean patch area (MPA), and mean Euclidean Near-Neighbor distance (MENN) may obtain more accurate results for quantifying vegetation change in steep mountain areas.

Distribution of non-native plant species along elevation gradients in a protected area in the eastern Himalayas, China
TL;DR: In this paper, the occurrence of non-native plant species was examined in a protected area (Laojun Mountain Area) in the eastern Himalayas, China, where sampling plots were systematically set up along elevation from 1950 to 3500m a.s.l.
