An object set may be redundantly stored by a set of computers, each configured to store a local representation of corresponding objects. When a computer changes the object set (e.g., by adding or altering an object), the updated object may be synchronized across the computers by iteratively forming and using an ad hoc swarm network from the neighbors of a node storing the updated object. This swarm network may operate cooperatively, where each node distributes object chunks to other nodes as quickly as possible, and may disregard concepts of competitive swarm networks such as fairness and cheating avoidance, which may not apply to cooperative swarming and might otherwise slow the propagation of the object. An alternative "ask" technique may be included to identify and recover missed object updates, and a computing environment host may be included as an authoritative object source and/or as an object store of last resort.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a common data conversion system which evades an increase in the hardware scale of a client machine and is small in the communication quantity needed to update common data. SOLUTION: This common data conversion system comprises common data (1), a server machine (51) equipped with a data converting means (2) which generates new common data (3) according to the common data (1), and a client machine (52) which has copy common data (7) generated by copying the new common data (3). The new common data (3) are composed of data extracted from the common data (1) according to the specifications of the client machine.

PURPOSE: To obtain the consistency of data and to efficiently utilize master data by taking shared data out in the distributed processing of an cooperative operation, etc., without performing exclusive control, and further informing other operators of the update when the data are updated. CONSTITUTION: When a work station 2 copies master data in the master data part 11 of a host machine 1, a common data update informing part 12 stores information showing that which master data are copied and which work station 2 the data are stored in a lock control part 13. When the copied data are updated on an optional work station 2 and the master data are updated corresponding to the update, the shared data update informing part 12 retrieves the information stored in the lock control part and informs other work stations 2, where the data to be updated are stored, of the update.
