Female socket connector

A lampholder for miniature light sets has a socket at one end to receive a lamp unit and a wireway at the opposite end which is covered by a snap-on cover. The socket receives two identical contact plates which are laterally reversible so that in one position they project by a respective insulation severing element into one portion of the wireway to engage a first wire, and in a second position the severing element projects into a second portion of the wireway to engage a second wire.

A mechanical power communicating device and a modular system of a host and a mechanical power communicating device for communicating a mechanical power service. A first component of the mechanical power communicating device communicates a mechanical power service from host to a second component of the mechanical power communicating device or to a functional device. The mechanical power communicating device may be a functional device, an adapter for coupling a functional device to a host, or a functional unit of an adapter and a functional device. The mechanical power communicating device may include a first component having a first interface connectable to the host, the first component pivotally connected to a second component having a second interface connectable to the functional device. The modular system may include a host having differently oriented mechanical power service interfaces and the mechanical power communicating device.

A connector for joining ends of a pair of cables is disclosed The connector includes first and second connector members each having a mating end with the mating end of the first connector member having an opening to receive the mating end of the second connector member Means associated with the mating ends of the first and second connector members are provided for orienting the connector members for mating engagement The orientation means permits the mating end of the first connector member to receive the mating end of the second connector member only in a preselected position of relative rotation Means associated with the mating ends of the first and second connector members are also provided for securing the connector members in locked engagement The orientation means provides an entryway leading to the securing means to permit locked engagement of the connector members with the securing means following mating engagement with the orientation means The connector also includes resilient retaining means serving to resist forces tending to move the connector members out of locked engagement and providing an environmental seal With these features of construction, the connector provides for self-alignment and positive locking in a low cost, light weight, weatherproof construction

A shape memory transparent body formed from a shape memory transparent polymer having a glass transition point higher than the temperature at which the transparent body is used, said transparent body remembering a basic shape, taking on a second shape upon heating to a temperature higher than the glass transition point and subsequent cooling to a temperature lower than the glass transition point, with the transparent body kept deformed by an external force for the setting of the deformed shape, and restoring the basic shape upon heating to a temperature higher than the glass transition point; and a method of using the shape memory transparent body.
