Utility of chromogranin A, pancreatic polypeptide, glucagon and gastrin in the diagnosis and follow-up of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours in multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 patients.
Wei Qiu,Wei Qiu,Ioannis Christakis,Angelica M. Silva,Roland L. Bassett,Liyun Cao,Qing H. Meng,Elizabeth G. Grubbs,Hua Zhao,James C. Yao,Jeffrey E. Lee,Nancy D. Perrier +11 more
TL;DR: Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (PNETs) are the major source of disease‐specific mortality in multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) patients and Chromogranin A, pancreatic polypeptide (PP), glucagon and gastrin have some diagnostic value in sporadic PNETs, but there is very little evidence for their efficacy in diagnosing P NETs in MEN1 patients.
Parathyroid carcinoma and atypical parathyroid neoplasms in MEN1 patients; A clinico-pathologic challenge. The MD Anderson case series and review of the literature.
Ioannis Christakis,Naifa L. Busaidy,Gilbert J. Cote,Michelle D. Williams,Samuel M. Hyde,Angelica M. Silva Figueroa,Lily Kwatampora,Callisia N. Clarke,Wei Qiu,Wei Qiu,Jeffrey E. Lee,Nancy D. Perrier +11 more
TL;DR: Although rare, the presence of PC or APN in MEN1 is noteworthy because it affects the management if hypercalcemia recurs, possibly requiring an open approach rather than the minimally invasive techniques used in the reoperative setting for benign disease.

Clinical Features, Treatments, and Outcomes of Patients with Thymic Carcinoids and Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 1 Syndrome at MD Anderson Cancer Center
Ioannis Christakis,Wei Qiu,Wei Qiu,Angelica M. Silva Figueroa,Samuel M. Hyde,Gilbert J. Cote,Naifa L. Busaidy,Michelle A. Williams,Elizabeth G. Grubbs,Jeffrey E. Lee,Nancy D. Perrier +10 more
TL;DR: A higher percentage of MEN1-related thymic carcinoids can occur in women and in non-smokers than previously reported, and both novel and known mutations were present in this cohort.
Genotype-phenotype pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor relationship in multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 patients: A 23-year experience at a single institution
Ioannis Christakis,Wei Qiu,Samuel M. Hyde,Gilbert J. Cote,Elizabeth G. Grubbs,Nancy D. Perrier,Jeffrey E. Lee +6 more
TL;DR: Young patients with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 and an exon 2 mutation appear to have a 2‐fold greater risk for developing a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor, and patients with an ex on 2 mutation may be at greaterrisk for developing distant metastasis.

Diet-derived antioxidants and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease: a Mendelian randomization study
Lanlan Chen,Zhongqi Fan,Xiaodong Sun,Wei Qiu,Wen Hui Mu,Kaiyuan Chai,Yannan Cao,Guangyi Wang,Guoyue Lv +8 more
TL;DR: The positive associations of genetically predicted selenium and lycopene with NAFLD were observed, however, the genetically predicted β-carotene and retinol levels were inversely associated with the risk of T2D.
