A novel DNA sequence compression scheme using both intra and inter sequences correlation
Kin-On Cheng,Ngai-Fong Law,Wan-Chi Siu +2 more
- 01 Dec 2015
TL;DR: This work exploits the inter-sequence similarities in that similar subsequences are found within the DNA sequence as well as from other reference sequences to compress highly similar sequences from the same population or partially similar chromosome sequences of the same species.
Effect of channel quality estimation error on the performance of interactive mobile video system using adaptive modulation scheme
TL;DR: The effect of channel quality estimation error on the performance of the adaptive modulation scheme with four parameters proposed: Extra BER Cost (EBC), Potential Theoretical Channel Capacity Loss (PTCCL), average system EBC and average system PTCCL.
Recovery of single source signal from noisy and reverberant environments using second-order statistics
W. Li,J. C. H. Poon,Wan-Chi Siu +2 more
TL;DR: A new approach for blind system identification is presented that finds that the second-order statistics is sufficient for the identification and there is no limitation on the type and the strength of noise even when the SNR is very small.
Fast iterative search for motion and disparity estimation in stereoscopic video coding
Zhi-Pin Deng,Ke-Bin Jia,Yui-Lam Chan,Chang-Hong Fu,Wan-Chi Siu +4 more
- 29 Dec 2011
TL;DR: A credible base vector selection scheme and an adaptive search range adjustment technique are designed to further strengthen the iterative search to speed up the motion and disparity estimation in stereoscopic video coding.
Intelligent Painter: Picture Composition With Resampling Diffusion Model
TL;DR: In this paper , an intelligent painter that generates a person's imaginary scene in one go, given explicit hints, is presented, where a resampling strategy for Denoising Diffusion Probabilistic Model (DDPM) is proposed to intelligently compose unconditional harmonized pictures according to the input subjects at specific locations.
