The present invention relates to a cashless transaction processing system implementing a VEND ASSIST mode of operation to effectuate a cashless vending transaction. The VEND ASSIST mode allows a computing platform 802 to oversee, control, and authorize by way of a system 500 the vend selection and sale price of a user selected vend item prior to fulfilling the user's request. The cashless transaction processing system includes a system 500 and a computing platform 802 . The system 500 initiates a vending session when certain commands from an interconnected computing platform 802 are received or in response to presentation, by a user, of valid payment identification data. Computing platform 802 data communicates a VEND APPROVE or VEND DENY response to a system 500 initiated REQUEST VEND APPROVE data communication. A vend cycle is then initiated or preempted as appropriate.

An approach to automatically identify the stereotypes of all the methods in an entire system is presented. A taxonomy for object-oriented class method stereotypes is given that unifies and extends the existing literature to address gaps and deficiencies. Based on this taxonomy, a set of definitions is given and method stereotypes are reverse engineered using lightweight static program analysis. Classification is done solely by programming language structures and idioms, in this case C++. The approach is used to automatically re-document each method by annotating the original source code with the stereotype information. A demonstration of the accuracy and scalability of the approach is given.

However, when a slot opening in the vending machine is not available, then the tethered payment interface can be located and secured on the external surface of the vending machine. In addition, the tethered payment interface is configured to be user accessible, provide an informational display, accept magnetic cards (i.e. credit cards, employee badges, hotel room keys, others), and accept RFID device data (i.e. FOBS, touch, RFID credit cards, others).

The present invention is a method and apparatus for filtering high frequency time series data using a variety of techniques implemented on a computer. The techniques are directed to detecting and eliminating data errors such as the decimal error, monotonic series of quotes, long series of repeated quotes, scaling changes, and domain errors. Further, by means of comparison with nearby quotes in the time series, the techniques are also able to evaluate the credibility of the quotes.

Traditional college level computer science courses rarely illustrate the potential benefits of computer science to the broader community. This paper describes a curricula development effort designed to embed humanitarian projects into undergraduate computer science courses. The impact of this program was measured through student self-report instruments. Through this investigation, it was found that students generally preferred projects that they perceived as "fun" over the projects that were social in nature. This may, in part, be due to the fact that it was difficult to reduce socially relevant problems to a level that beginning students could easily comprehend. This made it difficult to capitalize on the appeal of socially relevant problems in the early computer science courses.
