An effect of the globalization process is the increase of the international participation of developing countries firms (dcfs). Most of the extant literature focuses on the internationalization process of the multinational enterprises (mnes) from developed countries, but has paid less attention to the internationalization of dcfs; so it is unclear if the dcfs apply the internationalization theories to their processes of expanding abroad. This article focuses on the Colombian mnes and, with existing data from Colombian cases, will study the applicability of those theories to their internationalization processes. Therefore, it has three intentions: 1. To provide a general overview of the firm internationalization theories; 2. To show Colombian firm adherence these theories to their internationalization processes; and 3. To provide new directions for the internationalization for the Colombian companies.

There is a lack of extended knowledge on internationalization theories applied to developing countries firms (DCF) within the international business field. This paper explains the drivers of the international investment behavior of world leader baking company Bimbo and the relevance that the main internationalization theories have in the foreign direct investment (FDI) decisions. Ownership, Locational and Interna-lization (OLI) advantages, as well as the Uppsala model, will be explained and compared to the Bimbo's internationalization path. Furthermore, Bimbo's international operations are summarized and presented chronologically. Finally, a comparison between the above mentioned theories and the company's behavior is provided, and the conclusion that Dunning's (2000) eclectic paradigm explains the firm's internationalization is suggested.

Internationalization process of a developing country multinational: the outward foreign direct investment decisions in Bimbo Group

In most countries polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) is diagnosed and managed by both general practitioners (GP) and rheumatologists. However, the referral pattern from GP’s to specialist around the world has not been described. The initial prednisolone dose recommended by EULAR/ACR is between 12.5 and 25 mg1, but little is known about whether these guidelines are followed everywhere by GP’s in clinical practice2.This study aims to describe the refererral pattern and treatment strategy for PMR in general practice in several countries worldwide.An English language questionnaire was drafted by a working group of rheumatologists and GP’s from 6 different countries. The questionnaire contained questions on: 1: Respondent, 2: Referral pattern and 3: Prednisolone. Questionnaires were distributed to GP’s via members of the International PMR/GCA study group. Answers were collected via an online survey tool (Redcap), from 3rd of November 2021 to 27th of January 2022. Countries with more than 15 responders to the questionnaire were included in the analysis.Data from 11 countries were analysed. Referral patterns differed widely among countries (Table 1). Almost all patients initially seen by rheumatologists were returned to GP’s for treatment.
