A method for enhanced polymer spur gear inspection based on 3D optical metrology
TL;DR: The optical method offers a more holistic measurement approach with many important advantages being identified compared with the tactile method, and a good agreement between the methods was observed.

Machine learning based nominal root stress calculation model for gears with a progressive curved path of contact
TL;DR: A machine learning constructed model for calculating nominalroot stress in gears with a progressive curved path of contact is proposed and can be used as an alternative to FEM simulations for determining the nominal root stress in real-time, and is able to calculate the stress for gears with different number of teeth, widths, modules, paths of contact, materials, and loads.

Comprehensive Areal Geometric Quality Characterisation of Injection Moulded Thermoplastic Gears
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors developed novel areal quality parameters, along with a so-called molding runout quality parameter, with a focus on the injection molding method, and validated the developed parameters on twentynine gear samples, produced in the same molding tool using various processing parameters.
VR as a 3D modelling tool in engineering design applications
Daria Vlah,Vanja Čok,Uroš Urbas +2 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors explored the usefulness of existing VR 3D modeling tools for use in mechanical engineering and found that using VR tools provides a fast way to create complex part geometries, however, it has certain drawbacks.

Novel alignment method for optical 3D gear metrology of spur gears with a plain borehole
Uroš Urbas,Stanislav Petriashin +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a subsequent gear alignment (SGA) method was proposed for 3D optical metrology, which is based on the proper alignment of the gear hole and follows the alignment of gears in real-world applications.
