Notch mediates TGFα-induced changes in epithelial differentiation during pancreatic tumorigenesis
Yoshiharu Miyamoto,Anirban Maitra,Bidyut Ghosh,Ulrich Zechner,Pedram Argani,Christine A. Iacobuzio-Donahue,Virote Sriuranpong,Tatsuya Iso,Ingrid M. Meszoely,Michael S. Wolfe,Ralph H. Hruban,Douglas W. Ball,Roland M. Schmid,Steven D. Leach +13 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that Notch mediates the tumor-initiating effects of TG alpha by expanding a population of undifferentiated precursor cells.

SHARP is a novel component of the Notch/RBP‐Jκ signalling pathway
Franz Oswald,Ulrike Kostezka,Kathy Astrahantseff,Soizic Bourteele,Karin Dillinger,Ulrich Zechner,Leopold Ludwig,Monika Wilda,Horst Hameister,Walter Knöchel,Susanne Liptay,Roland M. Schmid +11 more
TL;DR: A model in which SHARP is a novel component of the HDAC corepressor complex, recruited by RBP‐Jκ to repress transcription of target genes in the absence of activated Notch is proposed.
Methylation status of imprinted genes and repetitive elements in sperm DNA from infertile males.
N. El Hajj,Ulrich Zechner,Eberhard Schneider,Achim Tresch,J. Gromoll,Thomas Hahn,Martin Schorsch,Thomas Haaf +7 more
TL;DR: AlU methylation had a significant impact on pregnancy and live-birth rate in couples with male-factor or combined infertility and Aberrant methylation imprints showed a significant association with abnormal semen parameters, but did not seem to influence ART outcome.
An X-chromosome linked locus contributes to abnormal placental development in mouse interspecific hybrid.
Ulrich Zechner,Matthias Reule,Annie Orth,F Bonhomme,B Strack,Guénet,Horst Hameister,Reinald Fundele +7 more
TL;DR: A novel effect in hybrids between different mouse species that manifests itself in abnormal growth of the placenta is described, which is mainly caused by abnormal development of the spongiotrophoblast of the conceptus.

ZOO-FISH analysis: cat and human karyotypes closely resemble the putative ancestral mammalian karyotype.
TL;DR: It would appear that during evolution to the human karyotype the status quo has been conserved for at least some 100–120 million years and there has been no need to alter the well-balanced gene arrangement of the mammalian founder karyotypes.
