Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 Clade 2.3.2.1c virus in migratory birds, 2014-2015
Yuhai Bi,Jianjun Chen,Jianjun Chen,Zhenjie Zhang,Mingxin Li,Tianlong Cai,Kirill Sharshov,Ivan Susloparov,Alexander Shestopalov,Gary Wong,Yubang He,Zhi Xing,Jianqing Sun,Di Liu,Yingxia Liu,Lei Liu,Wenjun Liu,Fumin Lei,Weifeng Shi,George F. Gao,George F. Gao +20 more
TL;DR: Results show that the novel Clade 2.3.2.1c H5N1 reassortant viruses are circulating worldwide and may have gained a selective advantage in migratory birds, thus posing a serious threat to wild birds and potentially humans.

The role of evolutionary time, diversification rates and dispersal in determining the global diversity of a large radiation of passerine birds
Tianlong Cai,Tianlong Cai,Shimiao Shao,Jonathan D. Kennedy,Jonathan D. Kennedy,Per Alström,Per Alström,Robert G. Moyle,Yanhua Qu,Fumin Lei,Jon Fjeldså +10 more
TL;DR: Here, the relative importance of the three aforementioned processes in shaping the geographical diversity patterns of a large radiation of passerine birds are examined.

The evolution of ancestral and species-specific adaptations in snowfinches at the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
Yanhua Qu,Chunhai Chen,Xiumin Chen,Yan Hao,Huishang She,Mengxia Wang,Per G. P. Ericson,Haiyan Lin,Tianlong Cai,Gang Song,Chen-Xi Jia,Chunyan Chen,Hailin Zhang,Li Jiang,Liping Liang,Tianyu Wu,Jinyang Zhao,Qiang Gao,Guojie Zhang,Weiwei Zhai,Chi Zhang,Yong Zhang,Fumin Lei +22 more
TL;DR: In this article, the relative roles of ancestral and species-specific adaptations to an extreme high-elevation environment, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, were investigated using snowfinches, a monophyletic group of passerine birds.

Evolution of body morphology and beak shape revealed by a morphometric analysis of 14 Paridae species
TL;DR: The body morphology of Paridae species shows extensive evolutionary changes, while their beak has mainly evolved along the long/slender/pointy vs. short/robust/blunt dimension, suggesting that altitude is an important factor in promoting morphological divergence.
