Control of carrier density by self-assembled monolayers in organic field-effect transistors
S. Kobayashi,Takao Nishikawa,Takao Nishikawa,Taishi Takenobu,S. Mori,Tatsuya Shimoda,Tatsuya Shimoda,Tadaoki Mitani,Hidekazu Shimotani,Noriyuki Yoshimoto,Seishi Ogawa,Yoshihiro Iwasa +11 more
TL;DR: A new technique is discussed that enables us to control the charge density in the channel by using organosilane self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on SiO2 gate insulators.

Photoinduced valence instability in the organic molecular compound tetrathiafulvalene- p -chloranil (TTF-CA)
TL;DR: It was found that a local charge-transfer excitation on the donor(D)-acceptor(A) pair leads to a semimacroscopic valence change from the quasi-ionic to quasineutral states in organic molecular-compound TTF-chloranil with mixed DA stacks.

Roles of surface steps on Pt nanoparticles in electro-oxidation of carbon monoxide and methanol.
Seung Woo Lee,Shuo Chen,Wenchao Sheng,Naoaki Yabuuchi,Yong-Tae Kim,Tadaoki Mitani,Elio Vescovo,Yang Shao-Horn +7 more
TL;DR: It is shown that increasing surface steps on Pt nanoparticles of approximately 2 nm can lead to enhanced intrinsic activity up to approximately 200% (current normalized to Pt surface area) for electro-oxidation of methanol.

Stiffness of single-walled carbon nanotubes under large strain
TL;DR: Large-scale molecular dynamic simulations of the axial deformations in single-walled carbon nanotubes have been performed using an O(N) tight-binding method, and the results suggest that the unique elastic properties of carbon Nanotubes originate from those of a six-membered ring.
