Systems and methods are provided to achieve dynamic bandwidth allocation among terminal groups (TGs) with proportional fairness in terms of both throughput and spectrum usage across a network. Quality of service (QoS) metrics for such TGs can be satisfied in terms of maximum throughput and spectrum utilization, while also satisfying QoS metrics such as latency, throughput, and prioritized traffic services for individual terminals within the TGs. A centralized bandwidth manager can be utilized to manage such dynamic bandwidth allocation across multiple Code Rate Organizers (CROs), including environments in which the multiple CROs manage communications across multiple IPGWs for multiple terminal groups. Because, in such environments, a given conventional CRO cannot effectively manage allocations across the entire network, the centralized bandwidth management functionality can be introduced to assess the flows for multiple TGs across multiple CROs and to make bandwidth allocations accordingly.

Dynamic bandwidth management with spectrum efficiency for logically grouped terminals in a broadband satellite network

An approach is provided for bandwidth allocation on a per terminal utilization and per inroute/inroute group basis, which optimizes bandwidth utilization. An aggregate average bandwidth usage of a plurality of remote terminals over a wireless communications channel is determined. A maximum rate for bandwidth allocations to each of the remote terminals for respective data transmissions over the channel is determined. A utilization metric reflecting a bandwidth utilization by one of the remote terminals for data transmissions over the channel is determined. An updated rate for bandwidth allocations to the one terminal is determined based on the utilization metric for the terminal, a target bandwidth utilization and tolerance range for the one terminal, and the maximum rate for the data allocations to each of the remote terminals. The updated rate for the bandwidth allocations to the one terminal is applied to subsequent bandwidth allocations for the one terminal.

Apparatus and method for an adaptive periodic bandwidth allocation approach in a shared bandwidth communications system

The invention discloses a multi-agent formation control method and system. The control method comprises the steps of acquiring multiple agents and using one agent as a communication node; building a communication topological relation according to the communication node; determining an event triggering protocol according to the communication topological relation; determining neighbor state information of a communication node adjacent to the current communication node according to the event triggering protocol, wherein the neighbor state information comprises position and speed; acquiring the first state information of the current communication node; determining the control input quantity of the current communication node according to the first state information and the neighbor state information; and implementing the formation of the multiple agents according to the control input quantity. By using the control method and system provided by the invention, the communication quantity of the actual system can be reduced, the risks of communication blockage and packet loss are reduced, and the practicability is improved.

A multiple-antenna positioning system with a single drive element, providing reduced weight and complexity over systems that have a drive element for each antenna. In certain examples, each antenna can be coupled with a rotating spindle, with each antenna spindle being coupled with a pair of link arms. By driving a single drive spindle, each of the antenna spindles in the system can be rotated by the associated pair of link arms. The link arms can have an adjustable length, such as through a turnbuckle mechanism, to reduce backlash in the system, and in some examples can apply a preload to the system. By reducing backlash, the multiple antenna positioning system can have improved responsiveness to a rotation of the single drive element, as well as improved stability of the positioning of each antenna when the drive element is held in a fixed position.

Quality-of-service (QoS) is controlled for the mobile devices at a per-user level according to user-specific traffic policies Mobile users may be provisioned on the satellite system according to a set of traffic policies based on their service level agreement (SLA). System resources of the satellite may be allocated to mobile users based on the demand of each mobile user and the set of traffic polices associated with each mobile user, regardless of which multi-user network access terminal is used to access the system. Dynamic multiplexing of traffic from fixed terminals and mobile users on the same satellite beam can take advantage of statistical multiplexing of large numbers of users and on different usage patterns between fixed terminals and mobile users.

In embodiments, a multi-user network access terminal serving multiple communication devices on a vehicle via a communication link receives an indication associated with a pre-defined triggering event from a triggering device on a vehicle, identifies real-time data associated with the pre-defined triggering event for transmission via the communication link, prioritizes the real-time data relative to other data associated with the multiple communication devices for transmission via the communication link, and transmits the prioritized real-time data via the communication link. In embodiments, methods, systems, and devices are also described for data prioritization involving network controllers.
