Homotypic targeting and drug delivery in glioblastoma cells through cell membrane-coated boron nitride nanotubes.
Daniele De Pasquale,Daniele De Pasquale,Attilio Marino,Christos Tapeinos,Carlotta Pucci,Silvia Rocchiccioli,Elena Michelucci,Francesco Finamore,Liam A. McDonnell,Alice Scarpellini,Simone Lauciello,Mirko Prato,Aitor Larrañaga,Filippo Drago,Gianni Ciofani +14 more
TL;DR: An innovative drug-loaded nanocarrier with improved targeting properties based on the homotypic recognition of GBM cells is presented and it is demonstrated as Dox-CM-BNNTs are able to specifically target and kill G BM cells in vitro, leaving unaffected healthy brain cells, upon successful crossing an in vitro blood-brain barrier model.

Electrospun Fiber Pads of Cellulose Acetate and Essential Oils with Antimicrobial Activity.
Ioannis Liakos,Alina Maria Holban,Riccardo Carzino,Simone Lauciello,Alexandru Mihai Grumezescu +4 more
TL;DR: An effective and simple method to prepare CA/EOs ESFs with 5% v/v oregano oil showed the best antimicrobial and anti-biofilm effects due to the potency of this EO against bacteria and fungi, especially for Escherichia coli and Candida albicans.

Hybrid Magnetic Nanovectors Promote Selective Glioblastoma Cell Death through a Combined Effect of Lysosomal Membrane Permeabilization and Chemotherapy.
Carlotta Pucci,Daniele De Pasquale,Daniele De Pasquale,Attilio Marino,Chiara Martinelli,Simone Lauciello,Gianni Ciofani +6 more
TL;DR: In vitro investigations on lipid-based nanovectors encapsulating a drug and superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles are presented, showing that nanovector-assisted hyperthermia induces a lysosomal membrane permeabilization that not only initiates a caspase-dependent apoptotic pathway, but also enhances the anticancer efficacy of the drug.

Spent Coffee Bioelastomeric Composite Foams for the Removal of Pb2+ and Hg2+ from Water
Asmita A. Chavan,Asmita A. Chavan,Javier Pinto,Ioannis Liakos,Ilker S. Bayer,Simone Lauciello,Athanassia Athanassiou,Despina Fragouli +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented an interesting approach for the reutilization of coffee waste in water remediation, which is achieved by the development of bioelastomeric foams composed of 60% of spent coffee powder and 40% of silicone elastomer using the sugar leaching technique.
The Reactivity of CsPbBr3 Nanocrystals toward Acid/Base Ligands
Francesco Zaccaria,Baowei Zhang,Luca Goldoni,Muhammad Imran,Juliette Zito,Bas van Beek,Simone Lauciello,Luca De Trizio,Liberato Manna,Ivan Infante +9 more
TL;DR: Despite the stripping of DDA ligands, the optical properties of the nanocrystals, as well as structure and morphology, remain substantially unaffected, empirically demonstrating the defect tolerance characterizing such materials.
