Chromatin organization during mouse oocyte growth
TL;DR: It is suggested as a working hypothesis that those oocytes that switch to the SN chromatin organization early in maturation may not be ovulated, even though this particular chromatin structure normally occurs just prior to ovulation.

The analysis of chromatin organisation allows selection of mouse antral oocytes competent for development to blastocyst.
Maurizio Zuccotti,Rubén Hugo Ponce,Michele Boiani,Stefano Guizzardi,Paolo Govoni,Renato Scandroglio,Silvia Garagna,Carlo Alberto Redi +7 more
TL;DR: The selection of oocytes with better developmental potential may be of interest for studies on nuclear/cytoplasm interaction, particularly in nuclear-transfer experiments and may contribute to improved procedures of female gamete selection for in vitro fertilisation of humans and farm animals.

Embryonic stem cell differentiation studied by FT-IR spectroscopy
Diletta Ami,Tui Neri,Antonino Natalello,Paolo Mereghetti,Silvia Maria Doglia,Mario Zanoni,Maurizio Zuccotti,Silvia Garagna,Carlo Alberto Redi +8 more
TL;DR: The FT-IR approach presented here allows to detect at molecular level the biological events of ES cell differentiation as they take place and to monitor in a rapid way the temporal evolution of the ES cell culture.

The other chromatin.
TL;DR: The functions and effects of heterochromatin on differential DNA endoreplication and in speciation are discussed, and the contributions of Sigrid and Wolfgang Beermann are recalled.

Biomechanical forces and signals operating in the ovary during folliculogenesis and their dysregulation: implications for fertility.
Giulia Fiorentino,Danilo Cimadomo,Federica Innocenti,Daria Soscia,Alberto Vaiarelli,Filippo Maria Ubaldi,Gianluca Gennarelli,Silvia Garagna,Laura Rienzi,Maurizio Zuccotti +9 more
TL;DR: This review will summarize the ovarian morphological and functional context that contributes to follicle recruitment, growth and ovulation, as well as to the acquisition of oocyte developmental competence, and describe the changes occurring during folliculogenesis.
