The Use of Computed Tomography in Pediatrics and the Associated Radiation Exposure and Estimated Cancer Risk
Diana L. Miglioretti,Diana L. Miglioretti,Eric Johnson,Andrew E. Williams,Robert T. Greenlee,Sheila Weinmann,Leif I. Solberg,Heather Spencer Feigelson,Douglas W. Roblin,Michael J. Flynn,Nicholas Vanneman,Rebecca Smith-Bindman +11 more
TL;DR: The increased use of CT in pediatrics, combined with the wide variability in radiation doses, has resulted in many children receiving a high-dose examination, and dose-reduction strategies targeted to the highest quartile of doses could dramatically reduce the number of radiation-induced cancers.

Dietary Intake and Cell Membrane Levels of Long-Chain n-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids and the Risk of Primary Cardiac Arrest
David S. Siscovick,Trivellore E. Raghunathan,Irena B. King,Sheila Weinmann,Kristine G. Wicklund,Jennifer Albright,Viktor E. Bovbjerg,Patrick G. Arbogast,Heidi Smith,Lawrence H. Kushi,Leonard A. Cobb,Michael K. Copass,Bruce M. Psaty,Rozenn N. Lemaitre,Barbara M. Retzlaff,Marian T. Childs,Robert H. Knopp +16 more
TL;DR: Dietary intake of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids from seafood is associated with a reduced risk of primary cardiac arrest.

Use of Diagnostic Imaging Studies and Associated Radiation Exposure for Patients Enrolled in Large Integrated Health Care Systems, 1996-2010
Rebecca Smith-Bindman,Diana L. Miglioretti,Eric Johnson,Choonsik Lee,Heather Spencer Feigelson,Michael J. Flynn,Robert T. Greenlee,Randell Kruger,Mark C. Hornbrook,Douglas W. Roblin,Leif I. Solberg,Nicholas Vanneman,Sheila Weinmann,Andrew E. Williams +13 more
TL;DR: There was a large increase in the rate of advanced diagnostic imaging and associated radiation exposure within integrated health care systems between 1996 and 2010 and the adoption of different modalities for anatomic area assessment varied.

Trends in Use of Medical Imaging in US Health Care Systems and in Ontario, Canada, 2000-2016
Rebecca Smith-Bindman,Marilyn L. Kwan,Emily C. Marlow,Mary Kay Theis,Wesley E. Bolch,Stephanie Y. Cheng,Erin J. Aiello Bowles,James R. Duncan,Robert T. Greenlee,Lawrence H. Kushi,Jason D. Pole,Jason D. Pole,Alanna Kulchak Rahm,Natasha K. Stout,Sheila Weinmann,Diana L. Miglioretti,Diana L. Miglioretti +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated recent trends in medical imaging and found that the use of medical imaging increased rapidly from 2000 to 2006, but trends in recent years have not been analyzed.
Family History as a Risk Factor for Primary Cardiac Arrest
Yechiel Friedlander,David S. Siscovick,Sheila Weinmann,Melissa A. Austin,Bruce M. Psaty,Rozenn N. Lemaitre,Patrick G. Arbogast,Trivellore E. Raghunathan,Leonard A. Cobb +8 more
TL;DR: Family history of MI or PCA is positively associated with the risk of primary cardiac arrest, and this association is mostly independent of familial aggregation of other common risk factors.
