A method for launching a plurality of computing instances may include obtaining a request to launch a plurality of computing instances. The request may indicate a first number and a target number of compute instances that is larger than the first number. The method may further include verifying that there is sufficient capacity, for example of a compute instance service, to launch at least the first number of compute instances. The request may be fulfilled by at least launching at least the first number of compute instances in a way that bypasses a rate limit that limits a rate at which compute instances can be launched. In some cases, the method may additionally include launching additional compute instances, as they become available, until the target number has been reached.

A system may include a resource acquisition engine configured to acquire a set of computing resources for execution of an application flow comprising multiple invocations to an EDA application. The system may also include a resource provision engine configured to provide the set of computing resources for execution of a first EDA process of the EDA application launched by a first invocation in the application flow and identify a second invocation subsequent to the first invocation in the application flow, the second invocation to launch a second EDA process of the EDA application. The resource provision engine may be further configured to, without releasing the set of computing resources provided to the first EDA process, proxy the set of computing resources into a proxied set of computing resources and provide the proxied set of computing resources for execution of the second EDA process of the EDA application.

Resource provisioning for multiple invocations to an electronic design automation application

A method and system including two or more virtual machines; a load balancer module; a load balancer processor in communication with the load balancer module and operative to execute processor-executable process steps to cause the system to: initiate an application integration component; create a set of one or more integration steps to transfer data between a cloud-based application and a second application; receive selection of an element of a virtual machine; broadcast a current state of each virtual machine to the other virtual machines; determine which of the two or more virtual machines has a pre-set amount of the selected element; retrieve a mutual exclusion component, wherein the mutual exclusion component is retrieved by the virtual machine determined to have the pre-set amount of the selected element; and execute the integration steps at the virtual machine that retrieved the mutual exclusion component. Numerous other aspects are provided.

A system includes at least one processor configured to host virtual machines in a cloud. Each virtual machine executes a plurality of instances of a first application. Each virtual machine also executes a distributor. The distributor is configured for accessing a profile of the application and a distribution of the first application, wherein the distribution identifies a respective first number of instances of the first application to execute in each respective virtual machine. After launch of the first application, the distributor is configured for computing an updated distribution that includes a respective second number of instances of the first application to execute in each respective virtual machine. The distributor is also configured for determining whether the second number of instances is different from the first number of instances. The distributor is configured for storing the updated distribution in a database in response to receiving a lock for accessing the distribution.
