Then the computer 104 processes only the image data near the contour of an object part that is obtained from the data 105 in a design mode out of the data 103 and decides the contour of an object part included in a tomographic image. when the object part having the decided contour is displayed, the part having a difference of positions between the contour decided by the CAD data 105 and the decided contour of the object part is displayed in a color different form other parts.

Data depending on a device such as the static magnetic field strength and pulse rising characteristic are measured in the device 103 with a characteristic design, and the setting of the application timing and application strength of a two-way high frequency magnetic field-radiating system and a three-way inclined magnetic field-radiating system and the designing for the timing and sampling interval of signal measurement are performed in the pulse sequence design 104. PURPOSE:To simplify the positioning operation, in the method to decide the photographing slice surface parallel to the intervertebral disks by using an MRI device, by producing an edge image from the photographed image, and deciding at least one slice surface by using the edge image. CONSTITUTION:When an intervertebral disk is photographed, at first the point 1 of an intervertebral disk edge is designated by using a track ball 401 or the like on a positioning image displayed on a display 403. By utilizing the designated coordinates, and the width and the running direction of the backbone, the edge image of only the object scope is produced. That is, when the edge image is produced, an image of differential filter is applied, known as an existing algorithm, a standard deflection dispersed value image, and the like are used, and a tracing process is carried out from the point 1 on the upper edge of the intervertebral disks so as to find the coordinates of the edge. Then, the edge at the lower side of the intervertebral disks is traced, as well as the edge position at the lower side of the intervertebral disks is retrieved. And the approximate linear lines of the upper and the lower edges are found, and the medium line of the approximate linear lines is determined as the photographing slice position.

PURPOSE:To provide a method for the raised precision as well as the improved processability in the magnetic resonance imaging for measuring the rate of blood flow in human body. CONSTITUTION:The three-dimensional image of blood vessel is taken by MR (magnetic resonance) angiography. An image signal 111 obtained by the projection process is indicated on a display 112. On a display 112, a user designates a portion 116 to measure the blood flow. In accordance with the designated portion 116, detective process of blood vessel to be tested is carried out, and then its approximate line 121 is determined. A plane 131 passing the designated point is settled to be the slice level with reference to the approximate line 121 which is specified as a normal line. In order to observe a slice surface thus determined, the gradient magnetic field of pulse sequence and high frequency magnetic field are adjusted to taking an image. Accordingly the objective position of a blood vessel is determined automatically, and the flow rate is measured.
