Alterations in the composition and metabolite profiles of the saline-alkali soil microbial community through biochar application.
Xiangling Wang,Muhammad Riaz,Saba Babar,Zeinab Eldesouki,Bo Liu,Hao Xia,Yuxuan Li,Jiyuan Wang,Xiaoyang Xia,Cuncang Jiang +9 more
TL;DR: Biochar application to saline-alkali soil improves soil quality by reducing pH, EC, and water-soluble ions, increasing organic matter, nutrient availability, and extracellular enzyme activity, while promoting salt-tolerant bacteria and alleviating salt ion inhibition.

"Exogenous boron alleviates salt stress in cotton by maintaining cell wall structure and ion homeostasis".
TL;DR: In this article , the authors investigated the role of boron (B) in mitigating the effects of salt stress on plants, which could have implications for sustainable agriculture, and found that the presence of B effectively alleviated these adverse effects, promoting the accumulation of proline, soluble protein, and soluble sugar, while reducing the content of Na+ and Cl- and augmenting the contents of K+ and Ca2+ in the roots.

" Assessing the impact of biochar on microbes in acidic soils: Alleviating the toxicity of aluminum and acidity".
TL;DR: This study investigates the impact of biochar on microbes in acidic soils, alleviating aluminum and acidity toxicity. Biochar improves soil fertility, enzyme activities, and microbial metabolism, increasing bacterial diversity and reducing aluminum stress by 66.61-88.83%.

Iron-modified biochar reduces nitrogen loss and improves nitrogen retention in Luvisols by adsorption and microbial regulation.
Jiyuan Wang,Muhammad Riaz,Saba Babar,Hao Xia,Yuxuan Li,Xiaoyang Xia,Xiangling Wang,Cuncang Jiang +7 more
TL;DR: In this article , an iron modified biochar (FBC) was used as a soil amendment to investigate the potential mechanisms of nitrogen retention in Luvisols, and the results showed that the intensity of functional groups and surface structure of FBC was improved.
